Can someone explain to me what difference it makes connecting a low watt amp like the tiny terror 7/15 or the Vox AC4TVH 4 watt head through larger cabs e.g. 4x12.

Do they sound better or worse (say same speakers, wood, manufacturers etc)?
Do they get louder or quieter?
Are they able to 'push air'?

I am thinking of getting a tiny terror to go through a 4x12 with G12H-30's (30 watts) which I already have, and am wondering if I should get a smaller cab to go with it (but can't really afford) - hence the question! :)

You'd be surprised how some little amps can drive big cabinets, and they'll have am onster sound.

The higher watt rating you have in the cabinet, you get less natural breakup from the speaker and then more of the breakup relies on the preamp.

The 4x12 should be rated at 120w right?

Yes it's 120watt. It's for my 1987x (50 watt) head. But I was hoping the tiny terror would be as good through it as a 2x12?

It will sound great. My 18w driving my 300w cab sounds better than my 100w at lower volumes. And that's with G75t's, the worst sounding celestion made.

Agreed. I had a Zvex Nano Head that I used with a 4X12 and it was amazing!

I've used my Blackheart Little giant through a Marshall Vintage Modern 4X12. It turns some heads :dude:

The amp all of a sudden becomes a lot bigger sounding.

I've driven an 18 watt and a 20 watt head through 4 12's and it sounds better than a 2x12 or a 1x12.

On the other hand the 4*12 is a pain in the arse to lug around and the orange cabs look way cool and match. I don't like the 60 watt speakers as much but it would be easier to carry around... shame they are not cheap!!!!!

Any ideas on how to build and Orange replica cabinet for less? Anyone know any good resources for that sort of thing (in terms of knowledge base)?
