Very sorry for your loss. Dogs are the best. I lost one of my black labs, Shadow, on April 11 of this year. She was the love of my life ( no not in any weird way) and I'm still having meltdowns over losing. Hang in there but grieve when you feel the need to do so. Again I'm sorry, I know exactly what it's like.
Its always a hard deal, you dont get to keep them forever. I can tell you from personal experience this much--getting another one really does help. You can never replace one, but it does make every day a whole lot easier to face
I'm sure all you other dog owners will attest to this. No matter how tough a day at work was, no matter how tired I was, I always looked forward to the dogs greeting me at the front door. Every time is like the first time. I would instantly forget about anything that was bothering me and just reciprocate the love that they so unconditionally give. When I had to put down my girl, i couldn't drive away for an hour. I was just a wreck. No matter how many times you go through it, it never gets easier to let them go.
