I've found a nice looking epiphone les paul that I might buy, not sure if the asking price is a good deal or not though.

The guitar is a Epiphone Les Paul "Special Edition" never been used and the humbuckers still have the stickers on. The seller is asking for £250 do you think it's worth buying it second hand for this price?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I can sell you some advice. I'm cheap!

I like the guitar, the price howerver, you best wait for someone that knows about that little squiggly line in front of the 250.

haha :D it's a British pound symbol. £250 coverts to $376.62.

EDIT: I've just realised these guitars must be much cheaper in America so maybe I'm asking in the wrong place :\

We've quite a few members from the UK and elsewhere in Europe who will be able to give you an idea of whether it's a fair price or not. Give them a bit of time and they'll pop in sooner or later. :D

There are a number of brit-bros on this board, so you're in the right place.

As for the guitar, Epiphone doesn't have a custom shop. That little sticker just marks it as having a non-standard finish (usually as part of a store exclusive or limited run). From the looks of it, it's a 2006 Korean-made LP. The stickers on the pickups don't mean much. I kept the stickers for mine and I can put them back on any time I want to if I wanted to pretend my guitar was "new."

Definitely play it for yourself and see how it feels and sounds to you. That's the most important factor in determining whether or not you want to buy a particular guitar.

You can get new ones for the same price...
with 3-year warranty, money-back guarantee
and the tuners properly set....:naughty:

Might be alright, provided it doesn't need a setup, which would add about 50 GBP to your cost-and you will have no warranty. A good shop would never sell a guitar without a setup-included in the sales price.

Decisions, decisions:hmm::hmm:

Oh, and welcome!:D

There's one ending in about 3 hours which is currently at £127 (granted, it's not red) that looks pretty nice - epiphone les paul standard | eBay - item# 200903379707.

Of the completed auctions for similar guitars, they seem to have gone recently for between £155 + £20 P&P, £186 (free P&P) and £185 + £10 P&P. personally I would say if you are willing to go much more than £150 + circa £15 P&P you should seriously consider the guitar Paruwi posted a link to. One thing to be aware of if you buy on a CC from Thomann however is that your CC company will usualyy charge a fee as they class it is a foreign transaction (usually about 3.5% of transaction total).

edit - too late...

hey, don't get down about it man.

I hope it arrives and it absolutely kicks ass and you love it.

Sometimes it doesn't matter that a 'similar' one is $100 bucks cheaper. You're getting the one you want.
