Looking for Lazarus

Ah, that’s too bad. I’m not concerned about the top at all with whatever shows up…especially at that price. I have other Les Pauls with very nice tops so I’ll be happy whether it’s a plain top or flamed.

This was my third attempt. I bought one directly from Joe’s website when they were originally available. Not terrible, but I just didn’t love it. I ended up selling it easily when people were really looking for them. I got a second one used at a pretty good price. Top was better, still didn’t really do it for me. This latest one is easily the worst one so far. I didn’t even think it looked good enough to hold onto and try to flip it later. I didn’t think anybody would want it. It’s a bummer, I’ve seen so many that were just stunning, but it’s just not in the cards for me. I don’t need it anyway, just took a shot.

Yeah, I totally get it…I‘ve had the same mindset with a few pricier Gibsons I’ve bought sight unseen and sent them back. But for those kinds of prices (often $2000 plus) I’m def. pickier and have higher expectations. I’m not necessarily anticipating a great top with this one, I guess I was just happy enough to be able to grab one at a nice price. As long as it plays well and sounds good I’m cool with that...a nice top would be a bonus. I saw a few on the Sweetwater website a week or so back, with nice tops, but I hesitated too long and they sold quickly.

Guitar came today, and the top looks like ass, worst one I’ve ever seen. Taking it right now to return it. So much for a good deal, I’m going to have to pay return shipping, and they’re going to deduct the free shipping from my refund. Lesson learned.

I have looked at Sweetwater repeatedly for the last few days. They keep popping up and then selling out repeatedly. There were three on there for sale a few hours ago, all gone the next time I checked.

Yeah, that seems to be the pattern for a week or so now…in stock for just a short while and then gone quickly. I‘ve seen some pretty nice tops during that stretch.

As much as I love my Lazarus, I still get a good laugh that people dropped hundreds over retail for these thinking it was some kind of priceless relic.

Well one thing is for sure. There will be a lot of these on the used market in a few years!!!

Yeah, and the fact that they started popping back up at retailers has to really be hard on some of these Reverb sellers asking $1200-1500 and more. It’s a nice piece, but come on!

Still happening. Sweetwater had 3 about 5 minutes ago. I was comparing the photos, and they all three sold right in a row.
