Hi there. I'm Neil from South East England, UK. Have been playing around with guitars for about 15years now. First guitar was a Burny Les Paul style guitar similar to the black Joe Perry Gibbo signature. That started me on my love of MIJ twangers. I've now amassed an assorted collection of MIJ guitars mainly from the 80's and early 90's. I've got Fernandes's, Burny's, Tokai, Greco and Tempest. I've just (well end of last year) bought a Navigator 335 copy.

Let's talk guitars!

Hey Neil!
Welcome aboard from abroad.

If you really want people to join in, post some pics of those guitars.

It is indeed and one of the reasons why I joined this forum. I believe it's a Navigator 335 copy but I'm looking for more info. I bought this from Japan last October for a steal and after some loving it's an awesome player.

Welcome. Would love to see some pics of that family. I have all Gibbys with the exception of a 78 Tokai LS50. It is a fine guitar.

Not to derail the thread, but I have a question about Japanese guitars and their prices in the UK.

In the USA, of course, the premier and most desirable guitars are built right here in the USA.
Meanwhile, the Japanese stuff built by Gibson or Fender is desirable as well, but they are not cheap like they were in the 80s or 90s.
In fact, many of them command premium prices due to their scarcity.

Korea is less expensive, and China was bargain basement prices.

How does that hierarchy compare with what you see across the pond?

Many of the brands that are popular over there don’t have much of a presence in the USA.

Burny, Tokai, Greco, etc.

Lee the hierarchy here is pretty much the same with USA build guitars demanding the highest prices then Japanese made ones. I haven’t ever owned a USA built guitar so can’t personally comment.
