Silverbursted, if I'm understanding you correctly, those Grovers drop right in and the one hole that the Grovers require lines up with one of the existing holes from the Kluson/Gibson Deluxe tuners? Did you have to ream the peghead to get the shafts through? Man...that sounded dirty.

I installed Grover locking tuners in my Custom. They fit with zero modification to the guitar. And the locking mechanism is inside the tuner so they're the same size as non-lockers and don't need the bulky thumbwheel. One of the best upgrades I've ever made. I got my locking chrome Grovers from Stew-Mac: Grover Full-size Locking Tuning Machines at Stewart-MacDonald

If I read the Stu-Mac ad correct , if you didn't like the "bean" knobs you could remove them and screw on the "tulip" knobs? I know its cosmetic but hey! Looks is 1/2 of it....right?

Did your guitar come with the full-size rotomatics and you replaced them with full-size locking rotomatics? Thanks again.

Yes.
And you won't have any screw holes to fill in when replacing Grovers with Grovers.

I think you can. I just checked my tuners and there's a screw on the side of each one, so it looks like it would be easy to swap knobs.

I haven't seen any input on whether those grover's pictured will fit the Kluson/Gibson Deluxe screw holes? What about the peghead holes?

You'll probably run into what Silverbursted showed above when he replaced his Klusons with Grovers. The Grovers won't cover the upper screw holes left behind by the Klusons. The Grovers should fit the peghead holes.

I can live with that so long as the other hole lines up with the tuner.

Thats correct, the Grovers fit exactly into the holes left by the Klusons. No reaming required.

Sorry about that bro, I'm TDY in Yuma, AZ now and it's a mother of a drive to work each day. Just getting time this morning.

I would suggest getting some wood putty and one of those furniture touch-up pens that closely match your finish and fill the upper hole before you put the Grovers in. Just makes it a cleaner installation.

You're a peach, Silver, thanks.

BTW, I live in Phoenix, so I'm familiar with Yuma. I've driven through on my way to CA. You have my sympathy. :-D

Hi I hate to be "that guy" who changes the subject, but I have been trying for a while now to get info on those machine heads with the little fold out lever for string winding...does anyone have any info? I want to put them on my LP custom. I'm a recent LP convert and kind of a newb.

Would these also be zero mod. of the LP Standard 60's neck? Everyone I have spoken with, from Gibson "help/support" to Guitar Center to my tech has been NO help whatsoever, I was told "No locking chrome tuners exist that do not require mod for a LP Standard 60's neck" I believe it is a 2007-2008, does not hace Plek'd neck. Thanks a million.

Actually, I went from stock klusons on my studio to the gibson branded, regular grovers, and they screw holes do NOT line up seamlessly. I had to have a tech drill new holes.

Joe, I have a set of them on my '83 LPC. According to the Gibson catalog they were called "Crank" machinehead buttons. A quick google didn't return any for me, but mayhaps some of the LP vets here could point you in the right direction.

TPKB3L Series Locking Tuners shown here 4 down from the top:

TonePros-Kluson

This for those that want the classic kluson look, but also with the benifit of locking tuners.
If you gtr has grover rotomatics, then stew-mac will have everything you need.
