I'm looking for some locking tuners for my new CC, preferably a set that will be a drop in replacement and won't require any drilling.

I've tried the Planet Waves auto-trim tuners on another guitar, and while the trim feature is cool, the tuners themselves seem a little cheap.

Grovers are recommend frequently. Are those my best bet is there another brand I should look at?

I have a set of Sperzel Lockers on my CC. I took my guitar to a good tech in my area, and he suggested the Sperzels, and he installed the. He did say there were very small set screw holes left by the original Grovers, which he had filled and repaired. If he hadn't of mentioned it, I never would have known the difference, certainly can't see where he fixed them.

My Tech guy had a few different types available, and I told him to go with what he would use........hence the Sperzels. I have a Strat, that has Schaller Lockers on it, and about the only difference I see is that the Sperzels have a little larger locking thumb screw, sort of a little easier to get a hold of, but otherwise pretty much the same. I asked the same question about a "drop-in" set, and really didn't get a difinitive answer, so I decided to let a pro install them. I think he only charged me about $30 to do the job. Not worth it to me to save $30 and take a chance on damaging the thing.

I put some Sperzels on a CC today. The shaft hole was fine, but I filled an old screw hole and drilled a new alignment hole for each tuner. It was no problem for me. The client said for me to not worry about filling the hole, but I filled it anyway. I think I might go buy a paint stick to match the color a little better.

What surprised me was how short the tuner was. I took a picture with one original tuner to compare it to the others. I'm sure I could grow used to it if it were my guitar, but I think it looks a little funky.
