over 10 lbs. = heavy weight tone. This 68 is over 11 lbs. Not very likeable for the weight, very likeable for the way it sounds.

Some really crappy cell phone pics of my '56 Alnico. Yeah. The knobs are stock. Weird. Switch tip replaced cause the original one disintegrated. 9.2 pounds of sexy.

Here are some pix of my fabulous, ferocious, filthy 68 Custom fretless wonder. I included some control cavity and pickup cavity shots for those with inquiring minds.

BTW FYI I Picked this up not to long ago for less $$$ than a new 2012 Standard at a Garage sale. so there are still vintage deals out there for those of you still looking. Keep the faith...

Is that a very late 68? Beauty guitar but some of the features are more 69ish.
Curious minds need to know.

Seems like very late 68 or early 69 to me too. A beauty with so much mojo. :)

As far as I can tell yes it is a 68. It has late 68 date codes on the pots. 3 piece neck, VERY Thick Maple Cap. She is a real growler. Nothing subtle or delicate about this beast. Roars like a pissed lion.

Control cavity is def 69, along with three-piece neck and no dot over the "i". Here are some pics of my mid-69 before its refin:

That is a 69 Les Paul Custom. It doesn't have the correct 1968 routed control cavity.

Three piece neck is correct as he says, it would not even be early , but mid 69 series .

Is the tenon the correct early 69 and 69 style? What is the serial ? It looks very original. Very cool guitar.

Only something like 400-450 1968 LP Customs were built.

Thought I'd throw up a couple more pics of my '69... she's the best soundin LP I've layed my hands on... I knew it would be the minute I laid eyes on her.

Played her a lot since I bought her in '04:) but she was nicely played in already....(understatement of the year!) gold was new though, Gotoh bridge TP and studs.

Beautiful guitar man, love the open coils on customs, especially with the orange-ish binding. If I were you though, (just a suggestion), I'd rid of that metric bridge! That would really make the guitar more accurate, and probably a bit better overall.
