Always loved the way 50's Black Beauties sound - fat, warm and sweet! Here's my clean '56 LPC. Lightweight, about 8.5 lbs.

1958 original 3 pickup with changed tuners and one change control knob. Killer player with a 59 neck profile and original big frets. 9.5lbs dead on, later period case. The sad part is that I sold it yesterday. The good part is that it has gone to a nice guy who is a great player and a real vintage connoisseur.

Thanks man! It weighs sub 8.5lb and has a genuinely huge neck so is a pretty remarkable example. I had a '54 LPC PAF conversion too which I'll dig out pics of..

My '57 Alnico - it's the best playing guitar I've ever owned. I'm thinking about having another guitar's neck shaved to match this one. It's perfect. Weighs between 9.5 & 10. Came with some Cornell Dubilier caps, which were OK. Replaced them with some vintage bees, and it really helped in dialing in tone. A PO blocked the bridge pickup, but I think it's a bit high. I need to bring it down a little to balance them out. Great guitar. So far, it's the one that's going in the coffin with me..! :naughty:

Beautiful guitar. Just curious about the neck profile as you mentioned you're considering having another guitar's neck shaved to match this one. Are custom necks comparable to standards of the same year or are they slimmer?

Here's '55/'59 PAF conversion- again lightweight, with a wonderful soft V profile neck and super fat, ringing midrange- very cool!

It's big but not fat. Not as big as my '54 goldtop, for certain. Probably closer to '58 or '59 Standards. I've not played a lot of '50's Customs, so I don't have much of a frame of reference for comparison. I do know it fits like a glove on me...
