I open these threads thinking I'll see Juniors...

oh well.
Just because you mentioned it, here ya go! I mean, technically it was an "LPJ" until Gibson released the LPJ.

My guess is that the LPJ is supposed to fill the role of the old Junior for younger players brought up on the sound of humbuckers, but too many people objected to calling a Les Paul with dual humbuckers and a carved top a "Les Paul Jr."...so they just called it by its initials.

But they still call the new Melody Maker the "Melody Maker"....

I think the "Les Paul Jr" is 3/4 scale as opposed to the "LPJ" which is full size and weighs more.

2013 Gold Top. Always wanted one and since I'm semi-serious playing now, it filled the need for a Gibby Lester and my desire for a gold top.

The LPJ fits exactly what I need right now.

So I went to pick up my new guit. As stated above, it was a 2013 Gibson LPJ Gold top.

After waiting a week to get in, I go after work to pick it up.
I open the box and pull it out to find a dime sized something that ate away some of the finish right under the bridge pup, major chipping by the tail strap (looks like it was dropped a few times) forearm rubbing on the top, a major scratch on the top and the jack was busted up.

Suffice to say I wasn't happy and nor was I taking it.

So asked for a refund and got a deal on a 2014 LPJ in Vintage Sunburst.
