1988 Les Paul Custom Lite.

Bought it in the spring. It's been my go to ever since.

Guess I'm one of the few monogamous members. This one does it all for me. 1978 natural custom. All original. Til death us do part...

makes sense since one of them is strung wrong handed
Haha, I’m a lifelong Righty who’s been forced to learn Lefty due to Focal Dystonia in my fretting hand. I’m about 14 months into my Lefty journey and it’s only in the last few months that I’ve got good enough to consistently play that way.
I still pick up the Faded Special every now and then because my tone is still better as a Righty, but my Lefty playing (and tone) is progressing every day, while the other is regressing.
Going forward it’ll probably be less confusing if I just post a pic of the Lefty guitar

Man good for you! That had to be not only very difficult but frustrating as all hell.

* UPDATE*
I’ve had this guitar for over six months now, gigging and practicing with it. Somehow, in the last month or so, the sound has opened up. It sounds like, I don’t know, there’s just more of everything. The highs are prominent, but sweet; the bigger strings have a steely, but rich sound to them. The middle position is absolutely 3D. Although I’ve replaced the stock p90’s with a custom set of Wolfetones, that change was done weeks into owning it, not recently. I’m not knocking the OEM pickups, as they are very well constructed pickups, I didn’t connect with the A5 magnets. Also, I wanted RWRP bridge pickup, to reduce/eliminate hum. Lovely! But, I digress…

It’s been a long time since I’ve owned a new Gibson, so I’m wondering if this occurrence is a common thing? I know it to be true of acoustic guitars, but wanted to hear if there were any similar stories out there.

Let’s hear it!

Absolutely. Learning Lefty was initially very frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as watching my Righty playing slowly going backwards over a number of years and having to quit my busy band. I spent over 3 years not playing much at all and now wish I’d started learning Lefty earlier.

More recently the frustration was in my Lefty tone. With the Faded Special I could make that halfstack in the pic(71 1987/68 Greenback) sound really good. Then I’d change to the TV Yellow, and even playing a single chord would sound like crap. So much unwanted string noise, wonky string to string balance, EQ all over the place and not at all musical. It’s only been in the last couple of months or so I’ve heard improvements with my Lefty tone and only in the last fortnight have I come away smiling after playing through the rig(I usually practice unplugged)
Don’t ever let anyone tell you tone isn’t in the fingers(well in your picking/strumming hand attack mostly)because it 100% is.

It took a long time for me to find another R9 after having to sell my previous one. Due to a recent series of physical setbacks, I thought that maybe I should've sold this new one but my wife talked me into keeping it & I'm glad that I am. It sounds & plays beautifully.

2021 R9 Mojave Fade - different lighting really varies the top's color but the flames are always present.

Good luck on your switching! That seems like such a difficult adjustment. I have a lot of respect for your discipline in relearning everything from the start.

I too have some new unforseen hand/finger dexterity issues & while remaining a righty, I must now learn a totally new hybrid style of picking/strumming if I plan to enjoy playing again. Now my hands shake like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee!

Don’t worry about the music gear, the lounge is supercool !
What Gibson amp is that? I love it! I'd love to own one if possible. I know they don't make them anymore and since they bought Mesa Boogie, they now sell their amps, but damn that looks nice.
What kind of tubes does it have? Is it a single channel?
