I see a 'Let's see your Cars' thread, how about a bike thread? (maybe there is one somewhere already)

Here's my new toy. It'll stop snowing up here soon. At least I hope it will.

an '06 Sportster 883L converted to 1200 with all S&S parts (heads, cams, roller rockers, carb, etc)

I can't wait for Spring.

Same great Fireblade motor - comfy riding position - but biking's getting too dangerous - so i'm off bikes now!!!

I did the motocross thing in the late seventies - had a 1979 RM-125 back when they were air-cooled.
Did the crotch rocket thing back in the eighties.

Now I have an Olde Man bike that fits my environment;

2007 Kawasaki KLR 650 - last year of a 20 year model run.
Basically a street-legal dirt bike that weighs 400 pounds.

In the sand or mud, it's too tall/heavy and will stomp your ass.
On the road, it's too tall and underpowered - long highway rides beat you up.

Tops out around 100, but will cruise 75 mph all day long with ease.

It's great for dirt roads, trails, mountain/desert stuff.
6 gallon fuel tank means plenty of endurance.
I put Caribou hard cases (made by Pelican) that are a cinch to remove - lotsa storage.

My 17" laptop will fit on one side, a cooler on the other.

For $5k cash out the door, you can't beat them for a multi-purpose bike.

My bike wish list would top $100k in about five seconds....

 :dude: :applause:

On a somewhat related note... here is my baby.

2010 Specialized crosstrail hybrid city/mountain bike. It has front and rear lights, I also have a neat clip on commuter bag that goes on the back rack but it's packed up atm. I love my bike, I regret not buying it sooner.
