Could we see the front? What happened to the original neck? This is one of the coolest things I've yet to see on the forums! :thumb:

Sorrry to say the original neck is long gone and a few other parts had to be replaced over the last 57 years.

No offence taken. :thumb:

I just find guitars and let everybody else enjoy them. If I was indeed rich, I could actually keep them. :laugh2:

No one???

that story got started on the web and no matter how many times people try to correct it, it just won`t go away.
I have my Fender Japan catalog from 1997 and that model is listed in it, also came in black so it is not an anniversary model, all FJs had that sticker in the anniversary year, and we know from information on other sites they were made for at least three years. Hard to find maybe depends on where you live, I see them regularly on line in Japan and saw them in shops when they came out. I`ve seen them go for around $400.oo depending on exchange rates. I saw them, held them in my hands but was not tempted to buy one, personal choice, but I have better made Japanese Fenders and they were not really high ends at the time, basic basswood body models that retailed for 70,000 yen at the time minus the standard 20% off list, so they were very affordable...there were much higher end FJs made in the `90s. In the catalog there is no mention of this being a special or limited model of any kind, just a standard production model.
If you guys want some really special made FJs look for the custom editions or if you`re really lucky you might see an ExTrad.
Still, I`m certain we haven`t seen the last of the anniversary model story...it seems ingrained on the internet.

Stop the press - we have a winner. There might be nicer vintage strats but this one takes it home. Awesome piece of history. Would you mind sharing how you got something this exquisite?
I´d like to hear the story on that one please!:wow::wow::wow::wow:

This is the picture of the guitar Leo Fender took in late 1953. The guitar was given to my father in 1954 by a friend of his that worked at Fender. It is not known how many of the parts from the original guitar were on it when my father got it except for the body and the bridge. So the guitar is a parts-o-caster with a very historicaly important body and bridge and an assortment of other vintage parts plus a few reproduction parts. Most vintage guitar collectors don't give it a second look, however the history buffs are quite interested. No one knows what the value is.
