No contest. The LP is bright, crispy, great bite. Really nice. The Strat sounds good and polished, but lacks the immediacy and raw grind of the LP. Purposes for both of course bit on this board I imagine the preference will be for the Gibson. Certainly is for me.

Pots 'n Caps are a lot different by guitar style (250k vs 500k) along with tolerance differences. Pickup heights to strings?

Picking locations are changed by ergonomics.

I've tested the same humbuckers and same pots 'n caps as a set in both and the guitars sound the same. That was one of the tests that took me out of the 'magic tone wood religious experience'.

The Strat sounds spankier, the Gibson has a little more character and depth to it. I'll take the LP every time, thank you.
