Interesting., that Junior has a vintage body with the extra wood around the neck joint and the angled tail piece. The 50's neck is a step up from the BJA Junior as well. Same goes for the real P-90 pickup. I do wish the tuners were 3+3 tuners but even the BJA lost that in 2009. Now if they would come out with an alpine white or ebony, I'd consider one.

And it has a ledge !! sweet looking guitar... and I have to disagree with the 'studio' or the 'tribute' being 'a step up',.... different, but not superior... Juniors and their dog ears have a magic thats all their own... If I wasnt lucky enough to have bagged a 2016 Junior, I would definitely have been considering a 2018 (If they sell them in the UK)
Yes juniors are not really comparable to a studios or "normal" Les Pauls, it is another guitar.

I like the big neck, the juniors from the last years have the slim taper necks, also the BJA signatures, the only option are the CS juniors..
To find the right one on the used market is hard, so I thought about these one..
Agreed that Jr.s and Studios/Tributes are not comparable from a playing POV, however, I think they were referring to the cost of inputs on a Studio and maybe thinking a Jr. should be priced accordingly, say $799?

I can only assume they slightly modified the specs to make it a tad less historically correct than their Custom Shop historically correct models.

Link worked for me. That looks like a real Jr to me. The logo is very old-timey looking and the tuners are more modern. But the specs look good. If it was yellow to brown in the burst I would seriously consider getting one especially at that price.

Hooooooooot! I like it! First sunburst Junior I like since the BJA.

Nice move from Gibson for those who want original specs but don't want to pay CS prices (and those that wouldn't buy the BJAs because of their neck profile or the p100 pickup). Not completely original but close enough, nice compromise.

$1299 for a junior??

Get a studio model with a case.

or a tribute....which is even less money but a serious step up from a junior.

Not a step up at all. It depends of what type of guitar one is into.

With that said, they'll probably be below 900€/$ by the end of next year, maybe even lower if the logo turns off enough people :D.

I like it! But,a Junior, in my opinion shouldn't be that pricey. The were starter guitars. Simple and inexpensive. Not as costly to build so should be less expensive to buy. My$.02

The new prices on Juniors can't stay at 600 or 800 forever. Costs do go up. I'm impressed with this new model - has the necessary woods and fretboards, the old school logo, and upgraded tuners. I'm sure you can get them below 1200 at some point.

They always have to do something to remind you that it isn't a Reissue, it seems. When they finally restore the slanted uncompensated bridge and the vintage-style neck joint, they change the logo to a banner logo (which might be historic in general but is wrong for this model), and change the headstock shape to the Norlin version.

Now it's true that not everyone minds. But I'm sure there is a significant segment of the market that just wants it to look like the 50s version. And the only reason I can see why they wouldn't just give us what we want, when it would not cost any more, is to preserve the Custom Shop upcharge.

But even if they got the details right and I was in the market for another Junior I wouldn't pay $1300. This should be a $900 guitar at most. The 1959 list price of $132.50 is $1,112.36 in today's dollars, and back then they were paying a union workforce and didn't have the benefit of modern technology and efficiencies.

But not in heavy debt due to Henry's stupidity.

I like most everything about it, but the price. That's just attempted robbery...

There's no wood grain visible in the center of the burst. I hope that's only a bad-photo defect and not an indication of an opaque, painted body, or a switch away from mahogany. The guitar is grossly overpriced by both Gibson and Sweetwater. Unless you want the retro decals, which simply look weird and fake on a brand-new guitar, you can get a used Jr for half that amount. I know; I have one. Most modern Jrs are great players -- Gibson really does a great job on the neck and fretboard, despite the low price; even the PUs are excellent -- and one of the few instances of Gibson actually offering true value for money on a US-made instrument. I certainly wouldn't pay a jacked-up price for a new one. I dislike Gibson as a company, but I've got to give them credit for the Jrs.

This is the USA Junior I've wanted Gibson to make. Just about $600 too expensive.

Can't wait to get these on clearance in a few months.

Man, that Gibson logo... I'm really excited to see these in stores! Hope the price isn't too steep up here in Canada.
