Took it to get it setup and had some 10's (Elixirs) put on. Today was my day off so I got a chance to play it for a few hours. I am officially on the Custom train and this may be my last LP because it's perfect. I love the neck and the ebony board. I didn't think I would care about what kind of wood the fretboard was made of, but I really like ebony on an LP. The tone is full and the pickups respond very well to high gain settings.

How's the neck? Chunky, medium, slim-taper? Never understood what the "Custom neck profile" really was because they all seem to be so different in each year.

From what I understand, it's somewhere between the 50's chunky neck and the slim taper. I think it's called the C neck profile? Not sure but I really like it.

I got my Custom because of my idol Randy Rhoads. I bought it new in 2008 and haven't come across another Les Paul model, or any other guitar for that matter, that I like better. It's just a great hunk of wood. I tried over a dozen Customs until I found the Impaler. Unplugged, it was twice as loud as the others and I instantly bonded with it. That's why I wouldn't buy without trying it first. It's worth every penny to me and I'll never part with it. I still get chills when I open the case.

That's what I was thinking. I recently got a 2011 myself and compared to my Traditional with 60s neck it felt HUGE. I went to GC to try some regular Traditionals with 50s necks though and my Custom'a felt a lot thinner.
