Good afternoon,

I'm a newbie not only to the forum but also playing guitar, only 8 months but loving it.

When making a Les Paul at what stage is the dating done to provide the serial number?
The dates on Pickups shows there "wound" date but this can often be after the serial number date. Should that be possible

Pick ups are made at different times. They are just wound and put in any guitar that gets that make and model.

sure, the serial number is stamped into the guitar before the pups go in....there is a time lapse there.

You may also get (more often?) pups that date BEFORE the serial number as they sit around on shelves sometimes.

well, consider that the serial number is stamped before the guitar is painted.

Stamping of the Serial Number is a craft by itself and can enhance or ruin the "tone" of the instrument.

Interesting, makes sense the time period, didn't think the paint goes on after
