My best friend tipped me off about a Legend A30 at a local music store. He told me it sounds amazing and sent me some pics.

I decided to look into it and found all sorts of opinions on Legend amps in general. I even found a forum with a thread where (allegedly) the old owner of the company chimed in.

I'm going into the store tomorrow to try it out. My friend told me the store only has $350 in it and that I could likely get it for $500. I think the price might be a little high but I'm thinking more about how useful it might be in both a studio and live setting.

Thoughts? I could really use some help before making the decision tomorrow.

Well after all these years it may need some reconditioning but if you're ready for that and you like it go for it.

Well I tested it out and decided to buy it. I went in thinking I was probably going to dislike it (heard that it was often very tinny and bright and often hard to get a good clean tone out of). I was wrong. I was very wrong.

It gets great clean tones from chimey Fender to really thick jazz tones. The overdrive sounds great and it allows you to really dial in a good full tone at lower volumes (I was worried it would be too loud). Honestly, one of the greatest sounding and most functional amps I've ever played. It would without a doubt be my desert island amp for versatility, reliability, and tone.

I highly recommend these to anyone who happens upon one.

Sweet!! I always really liked these - in theory, never having played one - but my "amp knowledge" always convinced me it would suck. Your statements are good to hear, because I still secretly REALLY want one of these even though I have given up amps.....

A very cool amp. Congrats. I’ve always loved the look of those Legend Amps. Never played one though.

Looks to be in very good condition and that should be a great speaker, I guess similar to a G12-65?

From the four indents on the middle of the magnet assembly, I'd say that's a Pyle speaker. They're the only ones I've seen with those four little dots. Good sized magnet, so probably pretty good. Some Pyle's are pretty inefficient, which is a good thing in some cases to let your amp be cranked more without the pain.
