Sorry title should be "Keep" not "Leep" don't know how to change it.
I own a LP Class 5 Murphy Burst. I have a chance to buy a LP R9 if I trade and add a bunch of $.
The Class 5 is really fancy (Murphy painted) with burstbuckers.
The R9 is a teaburst but has really mismatched top. I know it shouldn't matter.
I'm not a musician and only play at home for myself. They play about the same and to my tin ear they don't sound a bunch different.
Should I spend the extra and get the R9 or be happy with what I have?

That Class 5 is no slouch. Why change and spend money if you're happy with what you have?

Only reason to change would be to

A) Get a thicker neck with the R9
B) Get a non-weight-relieved body with the R9
C) You like the pickups in the R9 better

Since you don't feel or hear a difference, all the above points are moot. Enjoy your guitar!

Keep it. Save up for an R9 if you want one of those, too. Nothing wrong with more than one LP.
If you mention it, it bothers you somehow.
And why shouldn't it matter?
It would bother me to trade a guitar I like for a less than perfect guitar
I don't know if I gonna like...

Keep yours.

I'm guilty of this mindset myself, and as a result, don't have my Telecaster anymore. Definitely keep yours, and continue loving it. It's cheaper to keep 'er!

Edit: Would you be willing to post some pics of your Class 5?
Yup, I'd like to see tour C5 too, please

Only you can decide, but personally I'd rather have the Class 5 (in the abstract, without benefit of having played them both)

Don't trade for a guitar with a top you don't like ... You'll only want to trade again later

I agree with everyone above. If it was me that mismatched top would always bother me. And after a while I KNOW I would kick myself for doing the trade!

Another thing...you would think a R9 wouldn’t have a mismatched top to begin with!! :dunno:
