This is the case my Custom came in.As you can see the lining is red and it has the Gibson logo.I don't know if it is the original case for sure.I've seen pics of cases which are other colours and without the logo.It also had this book in it.I think there was some other tags when I got it.I'll have to look.
What are the real Late sixties cases?

Most were purple lined in the 60 era ,this appears to be a 70 era case , the booklet seems to confirm that as well (IMO).

Les paul cases from the late 60`s were yellow lined.
And often don`t fit quite so well.

Your case looks to me to be from about 1978-79

I know 1974 s came with red lining and Gibson logo on the outside . I recall seeing them new back then. , could be other years as well after. Not sure about 1973 case .

My 68 came new with a no logo shaped form fitted yellow lined case . These were expensive even in 68 for the day .

I think the LSLP website has examples ....Purple was fazed in sometime in1969 ....replaced the orange/yellowish 68 .

Late 60's cases were yellow lined, full stop. You had the shaped Les Paul case that was without logo. You also had the the thin rectagonal "suicide " case. Any other shapes/colours came in from 1970 onwards.

Someone will prove me wrong but from my own personal experience that is how it rolled.:thumb:

I have the marigold Faultless black case for my '69...brass latches...no logo.

It also is ok for the 17 degree headstock reissues and my '60.

Also note the placement of the handle and latches of the late 60s early 70s cases vs the
OPs red lined case.

Yup.....that's a 68 case , mine is exactly like that . Although ...I don't use the case to store the 68 GT LP....I have it in one of those reissue burst case that from years ago that now seem to be going up in value as well. It fits tight and snug .
