A late show and tell folks. NGD!!!
Got her at a good deal with the case candy about a month ago.

She’s a 2016 Freddie King model ES-345.
No.57/200 she weighs in at a light 7lbs 14oz.

In almost perfect condition, the pickup covers and stoptail have wear, but it fits the look.
It also has a nice dark fretboard.

The previous owner had it rewired mono w/varitone thank god, very usable tones.

It has the biggest neck on a guitar that I’ve ever owned, lots of shoulders.
It makes my 2019 R9 necked R8 feel like a 60’s neck.

I did a magnet swap for A4’s, also flipped the bridge magnet so it would be out of phase.
The MHS are much better this way IMO

They have a very dynamic and balanced tone with A4’s, arguably moreso than the low wind OX4 and unpotted custombuckers I have.

Oh, I also swapped the signature trussrod cover for a “stereo” one lol.

This one I’ll be taking to the grave.
Thanks for looking!

Some pics I took over a few weeks ;)

Very nice, you should be proud!

I used to tend bar in a Club in Dallas (Mother Blues) 1973-1978 where Freddy when was a regular when he wasn't on the road. Because of watching him play (many times), I bought a 1967 ES 355 Stereo and loved that guitar until she was stolen along with a 72 Deluxe, 60 Junior and a 59 4/10 Bassman. The best music years of my life...

Oh my!!!!!! Beautiful!

I went to school with his daughter (now an established blues singer in her on right). He used to play school gigs for us.

Interesting read! Thanks for sharing.

It’s amazing how great this guitar is after just a few mods.
Heck, even before the magnet swap it was pretty amazing.

These historic artist reissues must have extra love when making them imo.

Changed the knobs out for black/gold reflectors.

That is stunning!!! IMO, the ES-345 is THE most beautiful guitar ever! I saw a FK in a shop in Petaluma a few years ago, really beautiful guitars! Enjoy yours in good health.

Hope you don't mind me showing mine where I also changed the trussrod cover for stereo, the knobs also for reflectors and also made a short pickguard... It also has a big neck with some shoulders, bigger than my blonde 335 '59... I changed years ago the pickups in the 59 for Antiquities.
Maybe I should try the alnico 4 swap in the MHS cause when comparing to the 59, the Ants sound better to my ears... And the out of phase magnet is also an idea to explore...

Haha nice to see someone else doing similar mods!
And definitely, the FK model has a really fat neck, probably the fattest Gibson neck I’ve ever played lol.

And yes I definitely recommend changing the guitar to mono w/varitone and flipping one of the magnets to get the out of phase tones.
It really opened a whole lot of tonal options imo.

However, this mod “might” have made the bridge pup sound thinner sounding(still loud tho) overall, and if I were to do it again I’d flip the neck pup magnet instead for more clarity.

The previous owner already switched it to mono. So all I have is to change the magnet and flip it (in the neck!)... :cheers2:
