KISS have never been about musical virtuosity. Those are the guys playing shows to 30 people a night.

LOL I believe Periphery is playing to far more than 30 people a night

They played the Wreck Room in Toronto. That maxes out at 450 people. That was Periphery and at least three other bands on the bill. Even if we pretend that the show was entirely sold out we are still in the same ballpark. When KISS come to Toronto they play to 12,000 people or so.

Why would you even try to compare a no name band that nobody cares or even knows about to KISS? Nobody cares if somebody can make a single bass sound like a double bass.

Man, for the life of me; I will never understand people who don't like Kiss. Forget about the makeup and the stage show, just listen to the music and it is nothing but KICK ASS ROCK & ROLL ! I am a General in the Kiss Army brother !

Ok... gonna pick up another KISS album. I've got Alive and Alive II on the Christmas list... So what should I get? Revenge, Creatures of The Night, Lick it Up or something else? I've got the first six and Carnival Of Souls...

or this one?

Don't expect that the 4 solo album sounds like KISS but go ahead and grab Ace' - great work!

I grew up with Kiss, bought Love gun when it came out in the stores in 77. My first album. I've seen them live about 10 times between 80-03. I regard myself as a true Kiss army member! :thumb:

I would wrather be a fan of anything over emo music :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Man, for the life of me; I will never understand people who don't like Kiss.

For the record, Periphery is not emo.

I will never understand people who totally dismiss a genre or type of music because of the social label it's associated with. And people who don't listen to stuff with an open mind and have that "OLD MUSIC IS SO MUCH BETTER HURRDURR NEW MUSIC IS RUINING SOCIETY BRB NOSTALGIA CIRCLEJERK" mindset.*

Just because a song has screaming in it doesn't make it "screamo" or "emo"

Bro...

You come into a KISS thread, one in which the original poster is pretty excited about discovering new music. You post one comment about "Carnival of Souls" & then you get on your horse & start giving commentary about how they suck, this & that....then to top it off, you start talking about another drummer / band.

I'm just not real sure why you feel the desire to share your dislike for the band in an obviously "pro" KISS thread.

Well, just wanted to share that I picked up Destroyer and gave it another full listen and still understand why it took so long to properly discover KISS... This was the first and only album I listened to by them years ago and still have to say it's not my favorite, had I heard "Rock and Roll Over" or probably ANY other album by them I would've been into these guys long ago... What Gives? Definitely a very offbeat record... a couple gems, but still very strange... Definitely the best cover art though.

Its because the producer was a douche bag. Still a pretty good album though.

Anything pre-Elder will do you well. Definately pick up the Ace album as well as Paul's album. Its pretty good and has a bunch of stuff that they did live as well as what Paul has done on his solo tours.

Just remember that no matter what album you pick up the members of that lineup have huge influence over what the album sounds like. For example, anything with Eric Carr and Vinnie will sound a bit more metal than the previous lineup. Anything with Bruce will tend to be more hairband except for maybe Carnival of Souls. The current lineup is somewhat of a throwback to the early band but is still very distinct as to its overall muscial sound.

Congrats on discovering a band that is very very under appreciated.

Hey. quit shitting up the thread. You wouldn't like it if sone did this to one of yours. Treat others the way you'd prefer for yourself. Also , your trollface was unnecessary ... but useful. Doesn't your school ban ceelphone use in class?

I don't really care for anything post Love Gun. If you don't get Ace's album, get Paul's. Also, about Destroyer, it sounds so different becuase of Bob Ezrin, the producer, of Alice Cooper fame. He was fond of elaborate production. He also produced Floyd's The Wall.
