So, like any Saturday, me, my dad, and my mum were in the car heading into the city center. On a main road, my dad noticed someone driving eratically behind us. We stopped at a junction at red lights, then we felt a small nudge whilst we were stationary, and then my dad gets out the car... that's when i turn round and realise he's at the window of the other driver.

I then got out and went round and saw the guys car in the back of ours, and it was apparent when he got out the car he was not fit to drive. He couldn't stand straight, staggering, clearly drugged, and even denied that he hit us when his bumper was clearly inside ours  It was then my dad asked me to call 999 and get the police here since he shouldn't be driving.

In short, we moved our car to the kerb, he nearly hit us a second time. At this point i started taking photos of him, his car, and video'd him driving away as he drove his car round the corner at the junction (nearly hitting another car), left it sitting at an angle into the road, and came and spoke to us more, claiming he was loaded with the 'flu'.

He also offered to let us smell his breath to see if he had been drinking :wow: He said he was away to pick his kids up, we strongly advised he stayed with us, and i told him i passed the details onto the police and they'll get him.

He then got back in his car and drove off. We waited a short time for the cops but they didnt show, so we went to the station a short distance up the road. Reported him, showed them photographs/video i took on my phone, and put out a search for him. 30 minutes later whilst we were in city center, i got a phone call for us to come back to the station as they got him, and wanted statements from us.

I got photos printed off (which they were extremely thankful for as it shows him and his car) and were taken in as evidence.

We'll hear over the course of the next week if he pleads guilty/not guilty.

We weren't bothered about the actual incident, as no big damage was done and accidents do happen... but the problem was the driver himself... NO WAY should he have been driving. It could have been much much worse. I'm sure we done the right thing.

If he's on benefit, he'll probably get legal aid and holiday out of it..

No, on second thoughts if he's on benefits it wont even go to court because it's too expensive for the system as they know they can't get money out of him..
The courts will only pounce on the likes of your Dad and me who are taxpayers. We are a soft touch for getting money out of.

The legal system in this country stinks.

Oh well, looks like it's going to court afterall! The three of us got our citations today and the court hearing is on the Friday 11th of December. The tosspot has nothing to stand on... literally.

Sounds like a win/win. Nobody got hurt & the tosspot (love that phrase) got taken off the road! Well, I'm assuming they suspended his lisence and/or impounded his car.

people that drink straight vodka are hard to
smell alchohol on them

But alot of drugs to, even over the counter drugs can
cause the same bad effect for driving.
Drink a half bottle of Nyquil and you are f'd up

What a gross violation of this poor man's civil rights!

(Just kidding - you did the right thing. Much respect. Some here are likely to take the loser's side, regardless of the truth of the matter...)

32 years ago my aunt was killed by a drunk driver. Witnesses noticed this person driving erratically while following and tried to force this person to stop. There were no cell phones back then and there really wasn't much these people could do. The result is that my aunt is dead.

By getting the authorities to apprehend him, you may have saved someone's life. You did the right thing irregardless whether justice is served or not. The most important thing was to get this driver off the road. You did that! Well done. Hopefully he isn't a repeat offender.
