Nice axe but $2199 is way too much for a black Traditional.

Does anyone have any experience with this model of guitar?
http://platinum.guitarcenter.com/search/view_listing.cfm?prodId=35800

I'm buying my first Les Paul soon, and I have narrowed it down to that one and a couple of others, but I haven't been able to find anything about that model in particular? Any thoughts?

It's a nice guitar. It has the "usual" features most "Les Paul people" are looking for. The '60s neck is a well accepted type of neck. It's has some "vintage" vibe. Overall it's a good choice. Is it for you? I dont know you!
But it's a good choice for sure.

What else are you looking at?
What style of music do you play-want to play?
etc...

Edit: I hadn't looked at the price! That is an issue.
Also, from the serial number, they might have had it for a while.

Well I know I'm looking for a 60's neck, judging from what I've played around on recently at my local GC, and I was looking at a Trad Pro II too, but I'm not really one for the finishes that come on it.

I play a pretty large variety of music, everything from classic bluesy rock to prog metal and grunge. I've already got a pretty damn good Ibanez, but I've been itching for a Les Paul for a while now and I've finally decided to get one.

Just wanted some feedback on this model in specific, what drew me to it were the coil splits and that it came with an Ebony finish.

Edit: Not that exact one in specific, there are plenty to choose from that seem to be newer.

any USA made Les Paul is a great guitar. Just find one that suits your preferences (neck profile, pickups, color, weight, etc)

If they made the Trad Pro II's in Ebony, that would definitely be what I'd want, but it doesn't appear they do.

I'm looking for either two Burstbuckers or 57's, I don't like the way they sound together.

I have the Gold Top version of that guitar which has the fatter 50's neck and it's a phoneminal Lester... That being said, the price is too high so keep looking!

Sooner or later every Gibson comes out in a black finish <G>. And just when they tell you that the guitar does NOT come in that finish, you'll come across one that was "a small batch, we just picked a couple up" in some Sam Ash in Farfaloma Springs, Oregon.

Don't put too much thought into coil taps; if you've got four-wire pickups, it's something that any good tech can add to your existing guitar in about 15 minutes (assuming he has to spend five minutes looking for a new spool of solder and another five downing the rest of his burrito before he starts).

It's nice looking, no doubt. If they have had it for a while, make them an offer. You never know?

Good luck!

Just wondering... what makes a guitar worthy of inclusion in GC's platinum range?

Just had a look and some just seem to be regular production guitars, nothing (too) special.

$2,100 is about the regular advertised retail price of a Traditional. With sales/promos they can be acquired for less but that is the going price for a new Traditional. It is old stock though so you may be able to use that to talk them down on price.

Platinum guitars are on the sales floor/show room of a retail store so you would need to inquire about the condition too.
