I have a Fender frontman 15R - was just setting up to practice scales over some backing tracks- run an aux cable from the laptop headphone output into the amp then headphones from the amp.
Seemed to be working at first albeit some crackling from the aux cable and then my amp just died!
power light went out and wont turn back on :shock:
Tried changing the fuse on the plug but dont want to take it apart in case it affects my warranty.

Any ideas what could have caused this? I have run the aux cable from my stereo into the amp before but never the laptop - this isnt excatly out of the ordinary and surely couldnt have killed it?

Was there any smoke or burnt smells?

Seems kinda odd that it would quit working like that without something sending voltage to it.

no smoke or bad smells - it was only the headphone output on the laptop, I assume this will not have a voltage?!

Its almost new from a good site and still under warranty - really cant be bothered with the hassle of sending it back

Seems to be a common problem with the Fender frontman and aux input

.:: Fender®.com ::.

This sucks because it is an ok sounding practice amp - Might be an opportunity to get my money back and upgrade to a small tube amp :)

I have one for goofing around in hotels on the road, I'll remember not to plug anything but a guitar into it.

I will definately purchase a decent tube amp at some point but I havent been playing long and this little fender was meant to get me through the next few months.

If I can get a refund I could use the money towards a nice little tube - I live in a small flat so size and noise are an issue!

Any recommendations around the £100 mark - is this possible for tubes?

my poor amp smells like an evening (and maybe a few weeks) of wasted jamming :(
