First, as was mentioned in db3266's post, this thing has way more gain than expected. I have several variants of JTMs, and it can nail those for sure. But cranked, it goes way beyond that. It's really surprising. It has also been mentioned that these are loud for 1W. Maybe so, and it's definitely noticeably quieter than...say...a Class 5, but I can't see wanting it any quieter, and the .1W setting is just too quiet for me (any time you can hear the strings acoustically, it's too soft for me, in any environment.

Dimed, it's a well behaved JTM until you get to 7 or so on the guitar. Then it turns into something like a JVM. I like it so much, it has me wishing for a 15 watt version so that it could be easily gigged.

MAn, you have the best JTM-1 sound so far!!!

And i believe that depending on the success of this limited run they will man versions with more watts, a see a 25 to 35 watts version would best.

Well, if you are running green backs, which have a sensitivity of 97db, that means when the amp is pushing 1 watt, which would be just before it starts to break up, 1 meeter from the speaker would be 97db.
Now, once the distortion starts, and you get to full volume, you are pushing more than 1 watt, so it will be considerably louder than 97db.

This was using the Celestion T-652s, which I think are more like 100dB sensitivity. But in any case, I can't see the full output of this thing causing many to think that it's too loud.

For those who don't know, you can run it unloaded if you have it in the .1W setting. In that configuration, I ran the output of the JTM-1 thorough the FX return of the JMD:1, and it's a thing of beauty. Makes it simple to slave, and sounds loud and fantastic.

I love that Firebird. I had a chance to buy a real nice 76. I had to pass due to other financial obligations, but may be able to grab it the future.
Nice playin BTW.

I like it very much.
I still am a 100 watt guy, heavily attenuated in fact to circa 1 watt (!) or a bit more.
But these are a great alternative.

Seems to be a bunch of dislike for these firebirds. Something about being neck heavy. Personally, I really like the tone coming out of these mini humbuckers, and the overall feel of the guitar is great. This particular one is relatively new, but quite inexpensive, it stays in tune no matter what I do to it, and in general is a very under-rated guitar in my opinion....
