So I read an article today about Jonathan King.
Now he's an ex DJ/music impresario who got banged up for sex offences.
Not sure whether what he says is the truth but I was surprised by what I read.

Jonathan King: 'The only apology I have is to say that I was good at seduction' - Profiles - People - The Independent
I would be insane, King suggests, if I believed he was arguing that. He repeats that, until he was 23, "Going with someone of the same gender – like the night I went with John Lennon, say – meant that you were both breaking the law. On that level I was completely guilty. My attitude was that if boys were over 16 – the age of consent for girls – and they wanted to do something with me, I'd do it."
John Lennon:shock: so I did a google search and found
Exclusive : Beatle John Lennon's bi-sexual orgies

A new book claims that former Beatle John Lennon indulged in bi-sexual orgies.

Former pop mogul Jonathan King who has sold over 40 million records reveals the tale in his just released autobiography 65 My Life So Far.

There have been persistent rumours about Lennon's sexuality over the years especially concerning his manager and the discoverer of The Beatles, Brian Epstein.
Lennon's first wife Cynthia, whom John married in 1968 but also had been living with since his art school days and possibly knew the Beatle better than anyone detailed in her 2004 book John the complicated relationship between Lennon and Epstein.

Although she denies it was sexual she does concede it was an extremely complex relationship with Lennon at times being excessively cruel to Epstein whist at the same time expressing his deep admiration for the man.

When Brian Epstein committed suicide in 1967 it was said that he was upset at the possibility of losing management of The Beatles. Close friends of Epstein have said that he was distraught at the thought of losing his influence with Lennon who they said he was obsessed with.

Cynthia says Lennon, assassinated in New York in 1980 was devastated by the news of Epstein's death and appeared to be much more deeply affected than the other members of the pop group.

A contemporary of Epstein's, the rock band manager Simon Napier-Bell relates a tale of receiving a long rambling phone message about Lennon from Epstein on his answering machine the night the Beatles manager killed himself. The openly gay Napier-Bell has said in interviews that he believed that Brian Epstein was deeply in awe of Lennon's intellect and that he had told him that he and Lennon had actually slept together twice.

Jonathan King had his first massive hit record in 1965 with his song "Everyones Gone To The Moon" whilst he was still a university undergraduate and went onto have a string of pop hits over the years as well as producing records for top bands like 10CC and Genesis and working with bands like Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Whitesnake, He ran his own record company, stood for Parliament, hosted TV shows and wrote for newspapers and produced the Eurovision Song Contest.

He also did a stint in jail over sex allegations which he claims he is innocent of and currently has an appeal over that court case before the European Court of Human Rights. He now writes regular features for Inside Times, a publication for prisoners in British jails and is an active pro-prisoner's rights campaigner.

King says in his book that "two or three times" in the 60s, Lennon stayed over at his flat with with several young ladies and was perfectly happy to indulge in a multi-gender session of stimulation.

Somehow I'm not surprised.

These are rumors, i'm not sure i believe them entirely, i wouldn't be incredibly surprised but for some reason, no other part of John Lennon was apologetic, why would he be apologetic for being bi?

Gossip about a man who died over twenty years ago.

No man is perfect and I don't think anything he's alleged to have done hurt anyone. The one thing I do know for sure, he was an incredibly talented musician whose music will be around for a long, long time.

I do not recall the title or author, but in the last couple years I had read that John had gone to Spain (?) with Epstein for a week, while his wife was having a baby or in the hospital, something like that, I don't recall exactly anymore, but I have seen more than one reference to John alleged bi-ness, and one was the Epstein thing. The reference had more to do with John bailing out on his women when she was in hospital, rather than focusing on the Epstein connection though.

Not sure where I had seen it, but I have done a fair bit of looking at both the Beatles and the Stones timelines and biography stuff on the webbz.

Well, the rumors are one thing, but a long standing fact about John Lennon was in his youth he was a very aggressive and violent man, to women too (Cynthia got slapped around a few times) and according to Julian, an atrocious father.

I admire the man's music, my favorite band of all time, and i admire the fact he changed over the course of his life and really tried to evaluate the good and bad he had done, but when it comes to silly rumors about sexuality, i could care less, i know he was a real prick for a while, and that has a way of lingering around even though i wish it wouldn't

Eh, who cares? This doesn't affect the man's body of work, and it wouldn't surprise me if a LOT of rock stars were "experimenting" with their sexuality way back in the turbulent 60's.

Mick Jagger and David Bowie were rumored to have had a fling too. This stuff just doesn't surprise me.

it is doubtful that Brian Epstein committed suicide in 1967.
he died as a result of an accidental drug overdose apparently mixing sleeping pills with alcohol.
kinda makes the facts in the rest of the article suspect to me.

McCartney said<
" I don't think there was anything sinister in his death. There were rumours of very sinister circumstances, but I personally think it was a drink-and-sleeping-pills overdose. I think what happened - and there's no evidence whatsoever expect people I talk to - was that Brian was going down to his house in the country. It was a Friday night, and there were going to be friends there. Brian was gay and I think there were going to be young men at the house. Brian went down with one of his friends, but no one had showed up - so he thought: 'Ugh - it's Friday night! I've got time to get back to London if I rush. Then I can get back to the clubs.' It seems feasible to me, knowing Brian. Then he drove back up to London and went to the clubs, but they were all closing and there was not a lot of action.

So he had a few bevvies, then to console himself had a sleeping pill or two before to bed Brian always did that, he was quite into the pills. And then I think he woke up in the middle of the night and thought: My God, I can't sleep. I haven't had a pill.' Then he had a few more pills, and I think that could have killed him.

I went round a couple of days later and saw Brian's butler. He didn't seem to feel there was anything suspicious, nor that Brian was in any kind of black mood. My feeling was that it was an accident."

still....Lennon's been dead for 31 years. so it really doesn't matter much if he was straight, gay, bi or into rubber.
