They'd hold any record release just fighting about who goes first in the credit's list. Too many powerful, bigger than life, egos. They can survive a show, it'd never happen as a permanent thing.

With that lineup I'm imagining something uninspiring like Chickenfoot, rather than something pretty badass like Them Crooked Vultures. Old dogs, new tricks... you know the drill.

I seems like Steven T is all but washed up from a few different interviews? So Joe Perry and crew are trying to keep The Smith going with someone else. I do think that Clapton and Page are about finished too. Maybe it would sound kinda like this?>.

It has been reported that the whole thing has been misunderstood.

Writing Monday (Nov. 23) in his online diary, engineer Kevin Shirley says he’s been recording with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford and “many other” guitarists for some “high profile projects” about which he’s “sworn to secrecy.”

Typical engineer - "secrecy" has translated to "blog it on the interweb".

And broken on the Gibson website - famed for crap "announcements"

Kevin Shirley posted this on his website three days ago:

"Tuesday November 24th 2009 Malibu, CA

Hi there - well my post yesterday started an inaccurate internet rumor, which spread like wildfire, even being picked up by the official Gibson site. Many people emailed and I corrected them, but the big guns just had to run with it and wait for the keywords to hit the internet search engines so they'd get traffic to their sites.

There's no supergroup planned with fifty guitarists recording, I'm sorry."

So there's no story here, move along, nothing to see...

;)
That was the correct answer.
