You can lead a horse to water
I tried
I can point you to multiple folks that got some of the first batch MF sold, that were not.
I can tell you of the WHOLE mess of OLD, refurbished Bugeras, that MANY folks have gotten from MF at these blow out prices.
I can tel you of when MF had the first 'batch of JCA20Hs, GC did too, and how I ordered one, only to find out they were sold out, and the GC rep telling me they would NOT be getting more.
But have at it. I am sure you will get a new manufactured amp, that normally retails at $300-400 for under $200 from a place in sever financial trouble that has been selling old stock amps over the last several months at blowout prices.e

I'm number 13 on the waiting list. As of yesterday they only wrote 13 orders. My CSR said that they'll get at least 24 in the first shipment therefore I'll definately get one from the first release. Yay!
I had the JCA 22A and the JCH 22V.....sold them both when I bought my DR Z Carnen Ghia. The 22A was freakishly brown sounding. I used to play old Eddie Van Halen drop D tunes and crack up guitar buddies. It's a fun amp. Rolling back the guitar volume to clean up worked well.
8/14/15 is a drag but they won't charge my Amex until they ship. Summer will be busy and suddenly it will be at my doorstep. It's a substantial thing for $179. It's pretty easy to spend $179 on a pedal these days.
I understand the MF- GC thing. The local Milwaukee stores that have Jet City never promote the brand. The Jet City stuff usually sits in a back corner like a red headed step child.
Today is 5.13.15........100 days to go!
Having owned Jet City I am impressed with the value it brings for the cost. The 22h is a killa platform for modding.. It has extra thick PCBs that seem to hold up. The only thing I don't like about it is that the tubes are mounted directly on the PCB.. other then that, it's a pretty solid performer. It should be considering it's really a Soldano design.
Thisa true soldano design at a ridiculously low price
If the wife wouldn't kill me I'd have 1 stack of each model![]()
Just as an FYI,
This is round two of this amp, at that price from MF.
Round one, from folks that got in on it, found out these are NOT new amps (old face oplace and badge, updated buttons).
MF seems to be getting a hold of a bunch of old stock (some old stock, that was repaired and/or refurbished) and selling as new. First it was Bugera Amps, now these Jet City amps.
I can't say whether they're new or old but I spoke to a Rep yesterday and here is what I was told. I was #19 in queue and had to change payment option (apparently Paypal charges you before it's shipped). Anyways he said I'd lose my place at 19 and would be 28th in line now. He also stated that they only had 50 pcs. total left and that they weren't making them anymore. Now, take this with a grain of salt because after all it's just a Rep.
Gosh.......you think that a warehouse distribution center with 130 dock doors and a massive call in center is focusing on acquiring busted funky amps with swapped out knobs and logo plates and then they sell them on the internet at $179 to turn a tiny profit?????
I'm envisioning bad elves at Santas workshop gluing the eyes back on busted dolls and then selling the dolls in an alley.
I don't think that there is a conspiracy theory here.
I work in packaging engineering and my company imports some packaging equipment from China.
There is an electronic company somewhere in China that builds these amps. They probably build 40 different styles of electronic equipment and two or three times per year they build the Jet City amps to specifications.
Musicians Friend may have ordered 4 cargo containers full of amps. They may have recieved a discount for hitting a certain dollar level or volume level. Maybe they offered the JCA20's at a discount as a loss leader. Maybe they needed to fill a cargo container. If people buy the JCA20 they may buy a bigger JCA head.
It takes 6 weeks (minimum) for me to get a container from China to Milwaukee. If the amps are being built now and they won't be ready to ship for 5 weeks then the 100 day lead time isn't crazy.
There's nothing weird about any of this.
And.....just like that I got an email my order was canceled, and I can't find the deal anymore. Anyone else have this happen? Bummer.
I got a backorder email, but says once they're in stock they will ship. You sure you didn't get that email?
