granted, I do not buy Marshall amps for their vaunted reverb, LOL. I had a DSL50 very early in the run, brand new. Don't remember a thing about the reverb other than it wasn't exactly a surf machine. Frankly, I never even used it, that's not what I buy a Marshall for.

Last night, I was messing with my recently acquired DSL50 and couldn't tell if the reverb was working or not. The amp is in a basement music room, which was resplendent with natural 'verb when it was empty. Being that it was super cold last night, the HVAC never stopped running during my session. If the amp's reverb was in fact working or on, I couldn't really tell from the rather intrusive noise from the fans.

Do you need a pedal to get the reverb to work? I have a nice reverb pedal that I can put in the effects loop if I must have reverb on the half stack. For all I know, maybe the reverb doesn't work. Again, not what I buy a Marshall for but i would like to know if it works or not. The amp did not come with a pedal.

great amps and especially the TSL! If I remember correctly you could use the external pedal to switch channel or activate the reverb.

I still remember the pedal model number PEDL009

I used my JCM 2000 DSL 50w yesterday, with the Reverb turned up for a while. It was very noticeable. I happen to move the amp before plugging it in and playing it. I heard the spring gently rattle in the tank as I lifted, moved and set it down. I can't imagine it's working correctly if you're having a hard time noticing it.

boy, am I embarrassed

The gain channel is to the left of the classic channel. The reverb knobs are labeled B Channel and A Channel. Except being the linear thinker I am, I expected A to be first on the left and B to be to the right of it. So I was turning up the left reverb knob expecting it to work on the classic channel. Silly Brits, keeping the reverb knobs close to the channels they represent.

My reverb works fine, no pedal needed, just a brain. :laugh2:

Actually, this bolsters my case for a full stack. If the amp head were higher, I would have been able to read the printing without having to squat down. Plus, the reverb is actually quite good. It doesn't get as splashy as a Princeton Reverb but in a way that's not a bad thing. The Fender tends to get really spoingy very soon on the knob's rotation. The Marshall has a broader range of light to heavier reverb.
