I am not going to argue with those who like FX. If it helps you, go with it. And it may help players who need a bunch of different tones.; IDK. I only play with my tone, and if the audience doesn’t like it, they can just leave. I don’t care, as I have never made any real money playing anyway. And I never will. But I want to sound like “me” I need an amp tha gives tones like “me”. I use some FX if the room sounds dead. Otherwise, I don’t use them. What more can I say? His is just me, and may not be true for any other player.

Well sir, I have sucked for 61 years, and it has been a lot of fun. When we moved to Durango, CO I had hoped for some gigs, so I had my music room placed with a door right out ot the garage so my gear could be carried easily to the back of my SUV.. Guess what? Nobody arounrd here wants a lead guitar player. And from what have heard around here, bands really need a good lead gutarist. I'm not saying it should be me, but it sure as hall needs too be somebody!
