I turned 55 this month- Dio and I share the same birthday. I was thinking about "retiring" after the JUNK year and a half we all had.
"Why Bother? I have made 339 fans WORLDWIDE. Not bad for a guy that was told he was a failure!"
OLD FEZZIWIG turns 30 this year. 30 years for that little Old trio from Philly- RIP Dusty- ALWAYS loved you-
30 is nice even number. Play ANOTHER farewell gig- I've retired more times than Terry Funk!
I thought MRS.FEZZ would be happy-she was not

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"Then what? I remember you looking out the window--------trying to summon drummers----what would you do?"
"I can go solo. Do POETRY gigs."
"Wait, didn't you tell me you were BLACKBALLED from POETRY?"
"Well, that was 34 years ago-that is why I got SERIOUS about ELECTRIC GUITAR< I needed an outlet> I was "hassled because I had superior talent AND great hair."
"Think how much you've grown as an artiste since then, you think they will be less jealous of your talent?

MRS.FEZZ really drinks from the cup. She doesn't laugh when she sees me talking to the mirror staring at my image=
"YOU ARE THE CHAMPION. YOU NEVER FALTER. YOU CAN CREATE EVERY SECOND!!!!!!!

"Yes, you are right AGAIN. I can see "The POETS" getting pissy- I never mock them? ART IS ART. Can I help it that I never run dry?"

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I now plan on "retiring" in 5 years -right before my "predicted" DEATH DEATH DEATH in 2027<some "so-called" seer told me this- I could believe it- not sure?

First thing finish my "Chinese FEZZocracy
' two years in the making- I can record an album in 8 hours- we record live as a trio.

I will start doing some POETRY shows soon- they can BAN me- I can still "release" with my garage band. I was thinking about a solo album last night while I was taking a two hour bath- I know baths are for gals- NO! HARD GUYS! TAKE A BATH-GET AWAY-THINK!

I can do my American Prayer. Get FEZZBAND to cut "live" behind my POETRY.

Then- DADDY DUST EP- DADDY DUST is my longest tune ever- I'm strrrrrrrrreeeeettttttttttcccccchhhhhhhiiiiiinggg it to 17 MINUTES! This is THE SONG to upend DOPESMOKER----a quick live to digital .

After that another reel-reel album- I think it will be called Let it FEZZ or FEZZHEAD SOUP- I was going to go with EXILE ON FEZZ STREET, but, Liz Phair got there before me----LET IT FEZZ? So many options.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

WAY BACK in when I started the GUITAR -----Mel Bay Books--Twinkle Twinkle-----------When The Saints...
I never thought I would become the 34 BEST GUITARIST IN THE COSMOS--no- I really stunk on guitar for at least 10 years- I couldn't play one cover all the way through! Back in Black----Du DUNNNnnnnaaaaa---na--na-na- I could not get the wheedle deedle part after the chords. I'm proud to say I still can't play it.........I can play Be Your Dog all the way through-Covers are too hard...

I give the 30 youngsters that come here some advice-most of us here are FOSSILS from the days of Foghat in their prime- we bought Skynrd on vinyl---remember when ROCK died after Bonzo and Moon "passed over."

Young Guitarist NEVER quit. NEVER listen to the "critics." NEVER become a POET............

43 years! CRIPES! 5 years more to go.

Alice Cooper said he'd retire five years after Mick Jagger since Mick is 5 years older. Alice figured if Mick could go til whenever he could. So there's that.

i cant see you retiring.all that pent up energy would cause you to explode...
redcoats, you are right, yesterday I worked 14 hours, walked 10 miles, had to drop off work van for inspection at Poop Boys,of course no ride back to work,I put on #of the Beast and put my hooves to use.

People are SHOCKED that I did this? When I was TEENFEZZ I would go to parties,it got "stale" after 2 hours,I would walk home,I can't stand being held "hostage."

I deserve BIG PAY for my ART,I get zero. I understand the world wants the mediocre. I can create at will, great songs, all different.....so,I will keep chooglin for my band's sake. I have taken over the world....I'm very happy with my achievements.

I lay awake at night, endless ideas shooting through my brain.I laugh when people talk about "writer's block"...what? Good work as usual FEZZKING...thanks,that and a bag of chips....

Never quit! 43 years playing here...58 years young...Covid killed my last working band. Except playing for Church, I thought I was finished as a working guitarist...then I got this phone call.."hey, we're putting together a new band, can you play Santana licks?" Then another call...my mates from 2011 called.."let's get back together for a "Crock" band!"
"A what? Country/Rock band..." and on it goes.....Peace and love!

Good man Brian-43 is a solid amount of time- one thing I missed when I didn't have a band was DRUMS! How can I be Jimmy Page without my Bonzo?

I just realized, I've been playing for almost 34 years (started when I was 5, and going to be 39 in October)!

The sad part is, as long as I've been playing, I'm nowhere near as good as I should be. But, as long as people keep telling me "Wow! You're so good!", who am I to argue?

;)

I would not call it sad, Rockstar232007, the vast majority of us were not blessed with lucrative careers as musicians.... that's just how life goes! Wifey #1 ( RIP 5/20/2012 ) stated it right, years ago, "If you could play everyday and not worry about making a living, you would be up there with Clapton." She was giving her opinion right after I came off the road...playing six hours a night, six days a week. thanks for sharing!

I've been playing WITH electric guitars for 43 years. Still having a blast with it too.

A millennial co-worker asked me to rate myself as a guitar player on a scale from 1 to 5. I gave myself a 2. He's never heard me play, but he gave me a 1.

Millennials. They know everything better than we do.

Been playing since 81'. Forty years this summer.

There were a couple guys that use to pack a bar every weekend playing acoustic and bass by where I lived. I remember sitting there many nights when I didn't know a C from a G chord and wishing I could make music people would enjoy. They played every simple four chord song and myself and everyone else thought they were great.

The journey for me was starting.

Four decades later my definition of a great guitarist is this.

If people enjoy listening to you play be it three people at a nursing home (done that) or a full blown concert at a big entertainment venue (done that too) you are a great guitarist.

It's that simple and has nothing to do with the shredder mindset many fixate on.

My belated condolences on her passing.

My wife is the same way. She knows I've been kind of depressed, bc I haven't so much as picked up any of my guitars since the begining of all of the C-BS started, and is always trying to encourage me. It also helps that our sons (8, and 3) are somewhat interested in music, so I still get to play (along with them) a little piano from time to time.:)

I actually cannot play most things-only my own material. My bassist wants to play a rare cover or two- I keep saying TOO HARD, TOO HARD,.....my fingers "hesitate" when I play riffs I did not write.

As a cover guitarist 1/5 FEZZSTARS
As an original= 5/5 FEZZSTARS

NEVER force yourself to do something your body can't do.
