I'm the opposite. Friday hits and I'm ready to get the hell out. And in the past vacations used to be just relaxing, now it's find where the people are, drink, have fun, get to bed by 10pm.
When I go on vacation, people are the last fucking thing I want to deal with.

One of the benefits of working shifts - I’m often off when everyone else is working.
Go to the lake on Monday.
When I go to the movie theater (rarely) it’s like Tuesday afternoon.

I can go to the bank, DMV, doctors appointment Wednesday morning.

Wife and I might go out to dinner on Thursday.

Weekends, I’m gladly at the refinery when no managers, vendors, contractors, or visitors are around.

“Offended by Proxy” was one I coined many years ago.

I’ve had many great ideas for band names, but I just don’t think you can beat Cheap Trick.

Best band name ever.

My Daughter works for one of the big defense contractors. They’re staying WFH for most functions other than the production line. They go to the office when they need to, which amounts to 2-3 month.

One way her company measures “productivity” is by monitoring computer use/time for some employees.
... and the BIG one is, can you still complete your assigned work ON TIME and in an ACCEPTABLE manner. You still have to deliver, because other folk's work depends on you doing your piece of it.

Statistics strongly point to increased productivity by WFH employees. I think a lot of the managers that don't agree are probably upset because they have lost a good deal of their 'power', control, and worth and are feeling diminished. Fuck them.

My wife has worked from home for almost eleven years now and I can't tell you how many times she has started early, worked late, and worked through her lunch.

That's a myth created by WFH advocates. The real statistics come from people where productivity matters (not employees) - the Officers of the company. And, they believe (correctly) that the majority of their WFH force is not as productive as when they were office bound.

And, I already gave a disclaimer that everyone here, their families, their dogs, and everyone that they know is a diligent, faithful, uber-productive WFH employee.

In an ironic twist of fate... I was texting with a good friend of mine last night about discussing this very subject with some internet friends, and many of them have butthurt over it. He laughed. So did I.

He is in the process of "post-pandemic restructuring" (his words) his organization (65,000 employees).

He says that the "come back to the office" notice is going out at the end of the quarter. Those who do will receive a 10% salary increase. Those who do not will fall into one of two categories: (1) immediate RIF (aka GTFO), or (2) an immediate reduction in salary of 25%, and WARN notice of a RIF at the end of Q2.

This should make the news... the company is a household name.

Deny it all you want... but, the party is coming to an end for the vast majority of WFH.

With all due respect, Mr. C. That is complete and utter BS.

Are those by chance the same experts that say people are still living like hogs in the fat house from a $1200 check they got 2 years ago and that's why jobs are going unfilled?

How about some solid proof beyond anecdotal BS?

Watch it happen.

How many of you actually know C-Level executives in the fortune 500? Not one. Not two, or three. But, dozens, with whom you have networked for decades, made friendships, know the names of their wives and children, and did billions of dollars in business worldwide with them over 30+ years?

I believe what they say, more than I believe anything that I hear in the MSM, or find on the internet when it comes to business.

Yea, I know... everyone has a story, and most of them are bullshit. You can call BS on me; it's all good. No butthurt here (on my end anyway).

Just so you know, municipal building permits for permanent walls suck more.

There's another corporate fad... Open Office Concept. God forbid that managers should have their own hard wall offices, with doors.

It's... soooooo... un-inclusive.

Blow me!!! Get out of my offcie and close the fucking door on the way.

It's got nothing to do with the MSM. It's just a bs theory that people are still living off stimulus money. It's often spouted by the "financial experts" that have predicted 138 of the last 2 recessions that have happened in my lifetime.

I have no idea if you are right about the WFH stuff. I think it's got more to do with the companies having to pay for the office space regardless of occupancy than it does with productivity. But I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. I operate power plants for a living. As I stated earlier, we had a bunch of people still working from home that I didn't even realize they were gone. It's not like we have some productivity crisis because "OMG, the Enterprise Risk Management team is still working from home!". Who gives a shit? None of us even know what the fuck they do. Productivity hasn't changed one iota with them gone. Some dude in a suit decided we need that department. Does it really matter if they do their work from home if they get the same amount of stuff done? Productivity wise, I'd say probably not. But we've got a big ass empty office that we pay for them to currently not occupy, so budget wise yes it matters.

That's my opinion anyway. :dunno:
