Is this Les Paul Classic a Fake?

Hi Everyone,

My first post here so really appreciate your help!

I have one Les Paul Classic in my town for sale, so I was doing the due diligence before pulling the trigger. The snot green inlays, tuners, uncovered humbuckers, 1960 on the pickguard, pots, the case, ABR-1 bridge, etc. point that it could be pretty much legit...

...except for the Serial number font.

I have not found a single photo of a 2001 Les Paul classic (or any other Les Paul in fact!) online that uses this type of font for a serial number. The serial number photo is not perfect but this one seems like a thin, stamped sans serif instead of a thick stamped serif that I would expect. The 0 and the 1 look completely different from what I have seen on all the 2001 Classics photos online.

Is this one a genuine one? Anyone ever seen this font?

Considering the headstock lay-out it looks pretty fake to me....part above the tuners looks to big..
the G should be a little in between g and d tuners , no 6 angle nuts on the tuners...

I’m gonna say real..... the pic of the headstock is at weird angle and some lens morphing makes it seem wonky.... the snot green inlays is a dead giveaway it’s real.

Fakes tend to have many deviations from the norm, not just one.

This guitar has press fits, the script is in a weird location on the headstock and it threw me off a little, but everything else looks legit. Stock it will have a metal plate mounting gibson labeled pots , and will have orange drop caps from the factory if you want further proof from the seller.

P.S. if it's in your budget, don't pass on this guitar if passes the neck test.

Pluck the low e open and immediately bend the g up a step + at the 9th fret without plucking it, if the low e keeps pitch it's going to be a badass Classic

My number 1 is of similar vintage…

and it’s not even close…the 496r/500t setup may be the most misunderstood/underrated pup combo on earth

Especially at low [guitar] volume using the amp to drive decibels ..

this era of classics is spectacular imho

i love when Gibson does true brown fades…

It never ceases to amaze me how perfect they can create the burst transitions…
Gibson has a ton of very highly skilled painters/faders on staff…

I can only [kinda] replicate it doing pass after pass with hand-worked dye and have never sprayed gibson level fades…but I prefer hand dyeing so it’s ok…

very excited for @smuc if he gets it
