hi, browsing through the guitar ads I came upon a guitar that the seller claims is from 1960, says it's beat up, and it is, and he kind of seems to be hinting that it's not worth that much, it's nicely reliced and looks legit but with all the fakes flying around I thought I'd get the opinion of the forum, when he told me it was 1960 I told him to put it here and you guys would be able to tell him how much it's worth

Gibson Les Paul Standard for sale for £0.00 as stated (G16214)
i'm just posting this link as that's where the pics are, I'm not the seller

The word nicely relic does not find in those photos and by those photos it could very well be a 52' retoped with a 59' maple top and 60's hardware.....

Terrible photos, so it's hard to tell much of anything. But if it is a real Gibson, I agree with Nico. The horn is not correct for any of the later LPs, but I have seen some '52s with horns that are somewhat similar to that.

What a fugly thing. Doesn't look real to me guys, looks like a veneer top, wide humbucker rings and beveled pickguard like epiphone's and other chinese or korean made les pauls.

yeah, the photos are fuzzy so it's hard to tell, in those photos you could really say it's any les paul reliced....I asked him what happened to it, told him it kinda reminded me of peter frampton's guitar :) He said he's had it for 10 years and that his guitar tech told him it was probably a shop model in a hot country and spent a lot of time in the sun, but it'd be more faded....so definately for a 1960 something doesn't seem to be right if it's not even on gumtree or ebay but guitarmart...assuming it is a real 1960 what would the price figure be around? reliced as it is, not original? 10k?

Was that thing fished out of the bottom of a lake? IMO it is a fake, heavily relic'd to disguise the fraud.

It floated from Fukushima to Oregon and then it was dragged behind a 1972 Oldsmobile station wagon to Long Island, NY and then it was kicked around by hurricane Sandy.

Yeah, you just can't get that kind of aging suckage by dragging it behind just any old car, ya know!

At first glance I thought it was Nico's relic?
