I had one. It was a Madone. Well.... the headstock logo said "Madone", instead of Gibson.

Aside from the headstock logo and split diamond (poor quality) the rest of the guitar was better than a Chinese Epiphone Les Paul Standard of the same era.

I've never held a "real" Chibson. I hope to, some day. I hope to find one on CL going cheap, and do a band-saw autopsy of it for MLP. The pics will be worth the price.

Perhaps we could all chip in $5 or $10 for you to get one, then do the autopsy

Kolabrunnen sanded down a Chibby -- not a bandsaw austopsy, but got this shot:

Not to get off track here... with the third world countries adapting new manufacturing technologies, copying a LP guitar, Rolex watch, or designer handbag is an easy task, especially where labor is plentiful, and cheap... on the other hand North Korea seems to be learning how to knock off nuclear missiles far too quickly~

Yeah, not off track at all because nuclear missiles have everything to do with Chibsons.

I guess it's a wood veneer top. I build a kit build from one these sites, and that one has a veneer top, on top of a maple wood like cap.
I guess they simply put the wrong name onto that guitar.. Mine sayz:

It is a photo yes. Completely flat and raster image noise in the "wood".

You asked for an opinion. My opinion is that this is a photo top. Sorry don't want to knock down your guitar, but I see all the typical things I see on photo tops (the right one is a photo top). Like this;

There is nothing "real" in a chib sorry everyone for this, not my fault.There is not any "maple top" nor "mahogany body". It's not maple, it's not mahogany. In this case there is something on top of something else. Sure it's not maple on top of mahogany.

Even a legit and completely good Epiphone doesn't have such features, for a much higher price. People should realize that using real wood does cost money even for a china manufacturer. You should consider yourself lucky if your chib has an alive trussrod.
