F@ggot?

When I was in elementary school you that was one of the strongest words you could use to goat someone. Then later on in the military, we used it, and when I started bodybuilding, it was used again for when you were training was slack.

But seriously why is it considered hate words now?

Because it implies negativity toward homosexuals. A faggot of wood, or smoking a fag are 2 different things though... Don't ask me... English language has been bastardized so much in the last handful of years...

You can get cans of beans and sausages here in the UK, and the name of them are "Faggots and Beans". When i worked in morrisons i had a copy of the shelf ticket because i found it so funny... lost it though, don't think they stock them anymore, was a long time ago.

Yep. It's still totally ok to call a straight, average white male anything you want. Honkey, redneck, or what-have-you.

I personally don't care what anyone calls me, but the double standard of it all seems odd. They even call it 'reverse racism' when it happens that way. :wtf:

I just dont understand, PC terms. Its now considered (by some) to be like N**** or K**** some other degradation. I dont see it that way, nor do I intend on changing my vocabulary. Sorry if you suck a penis/ you are a penis sucker, there is no way around it. Its fine for those who do but it is what it is

I didn't say it was a bad word but you have to admit that it is a liberal trait to be tolerant of many things that used to be taboo. Homosexuality is certainly not tolerated as much by conservatives.

i think faggot is a really damaging word.
i know for many it is benign, but when it's directed at a gay person it is just another word meant to marginalize and dehumanize someone.
if you need to make fun of someone you can think of a better word... if it could potentially hurt someone why say it at all?

But thats what I mean, I wouldnt give a crap what they call me, my reply of F-you is always a fitting retort, and I go about my way. But call someone gay something other than gay or homosexual? Look out, I hate when people tell me such and such is not a nice word and makes you sound ignorant? This is where I pull my

"did you know that I am a Veteran? Have you served in any military or given yourself to something more than yourself? Then stfu, because I earned mine"

My point is, why is it hurtful? Why if a person is gay and proud how does it take away? Anytime the word has ever been used around me its always toward a straight person anyway. Homo seems to be stronger to me:rolleyes::laugh2:

To me it implies that the user of the word feels that all homosexuals are effeminate and cowardly. Therefore, I consider it offensive. I prefer "wimp" or "wuss". :)

Why do you think that is?
Clearly they are not hip, or 'with it'.

People need to be more open minded, in my opinion. That means that what you do, or I do is your business, or my business... Not the governments, or anyone elses.

Of course I could be wrong. I do live here in 'hippy town' I suppose.

I agree that some words are degrading, but I disagree with the fact that it's a one way street.
