Is there any way to tell if a humbucker is A2 or A5?

I've searched a bit but haven't come up with anything yet. If one has an offbrand humbucker, is there any way to tell if it is an A2 or A5 magnet? Any sort of diagnostic test?

You could use a gauss meter, I guess. But by the naked ear? No.

You would have to take the pickup out and look on the bottom

No Guaranteed way.
Some pickups do indeed have info on labels.....either directly saying, or enabling research of the model on a makers website.
But if its a special wind or a unique pickup, then the Guassmeter is your only hope.
