Is the limited edition les paul standard 50s faded really a les paul standard?

Hi so i recently purchased a 2016 les paul standard 50s faded honey burst. I personally love this guitar but i have been informed its not really a standard but just a nicely finished studio 50s tribute t. Is this true.

Looks like more like a standard than a studio to me. Binding inlays etc...

What's in the control cavity? Pcb with dip switches? Then it's definitely a standard. I say it's a standard but it's awesome either way. If I remember they are way more money than a studio too?

Yes it's really a Les Paul Standard, model LPS516FHNH3. These are a limited edition exclusive at AMS and ZZounds that up to a few months ago were $1999, they reduced the price recently to compete with the other model year 2016 price reductions. There are a few people here that have one.

sorry for the late response but it has just a regular pcb. Its not the hp model.

^^^... this... it's a Standard like they made 10+ years ago... so really it's almost more like a Traditional. Either way... if Gibson labelled it a Standard... it's a Standard. It's certainly NOT a Studio of any kind.

they were made from '84-'87.

Not only is it a full on standard, I feel it to be the best value from Gibson for a new les Paul in the last quarter century...

I recommend that guitar almost weekly on MLP...

It's a standard in EVERY sense of the word save the glossy multi coated nitro finish...it has the nitro finish but not the layers upon layers upon layers...

Other than that one facet, it is a standard through and through...

A steal of a guitar...and if I was not so obsessed with classics I would own a few of them...

Still may one of these days..

Heckuva a guitar...I don't say greatest value in 25 years lightly and I mean it..

Gibson has called these "Standards" and "Traditionals" at different times. Doesn't matter - they are great guitars.

And no, it's absolutely not "just a nicely finished studio 50's tribute". Whoever told you that don't have a clue.
