And yet they hold the patent on asymmetrical clipping drive pedals. I'm sorry if reality doesn't match what you wish it to be.^ You could patent a circuit. You can trademark a name to describe something. You can't patent an electronic concept like clipping sine waves.

Been doing some research. Appears said patent ran out not too long ago (in pedal hitory, as in last decade) which is why some malers have used it (like Wampler)Do you have a reference to the patent? I'd be interested in reading it.
Isn't the SD1 the Super Overdrive? It doesn't stand for distortion. Try one. It's one of the best pedals out there, dirt cheap also. Last time I bought one it was 49 bucks new from Amazon (10 days ago). And it's as good as the one I bought 10 years agoSD stands for Super Distortion. A Klon is hardly that.
