Is this 99-Standard worth a $1000 or less? - it's had a crack neck repair at a Gibson authorized shop in Riverside, CA?......according to thre guy the neck/headstock profile restored, no fret buzz, and other than the headstock repair, this guitar is practically in mint condition. Honeyburst Finish. Original case included - he's asking a $1000.....your thoughts please.

Some folks swear their guitar sounds better after a break like that (?). The value certainly falls though. Try and play it if you can and decide then. If they are asking $1k, definitely offer less and negotiate. Nice paint job on the top! Models like this should be around $1500, so 1/3 off isn't bad anyhow.

Nice looking guitar. Personally, I would stay away from anything that has had a break. Down the road if you wanted to sell it, you may have a hard time because of the break.

But thats just me.

I would go for it. Of course I have been looking for a cheap standard for a while now... :hmm:

seems like a fair price. That crack sure did look nasty... Make sure to get the repair work order from the guy to verify that a "shop" did the work.

If it plays nice, the price doesnt seem bad for a good LP.

If the break was repaired well, I'd pick it up for a "player" at that price.

personally id want much better pics of the break and the guitar in general. in 2010 there is no reason that someone should be selling something with tiny, out of focus, and fogged out pics unless they are intent on hiding something. i mean seriously.. a good digital camera is $100 or less.

given that.. if that break still looks that shitty with pics that terrible... big pass.

The quality of those pics say, "stay the hell away from this!!"

Save another 500 and buy one without a neck crack... sometimes the deal is not worth it.

That repair is not exactly invisible is it ? It sticks out like a sore thumb even with the blurred pics. Surely a shop job would have involved a little bit of refinishing?:hmm:

Hmm i can certainly understand the posts telling you to perhaps pass on this as someone said earlier there is no reason these days for such poor quality pics first off and secondly there has been no attempt to refinish the area around the break. I recently had a headstock repair done on my 90 wine red standard and i can see no sign whatsoever of the break , completely invisible . I'd pass unless you view it in person and satisfy yourself your happy to part with your money , and perhaps knock a bit more off . I'd say you will encounter problems passing it on down the line with such a visible repair as people will try and knock you down on your price.

Yup ... unless I knew that this guitar sounds mighty I'd not buy it. Judging the looks it's nothing special (just mediocre for my taste), lousy pictures, headstock crack ... no thanks :)

I found one a while back with a neck repair for $850, a G seems like to much to me, but I paid 1500 for my pristine standard and it's sweet!
