Is Pinterest spying on me?

If you're connected to the Internet in anyway, you are actively being spied on by the big tech companies (among other actors as well, I'm sure). Even if you're not registered or an active user on FB, Amazon, Google products, etc., they are collecting data on you. In all honesty, their Board of Directors are more interested in people who aren't on their apps than those who are. After all, you're the potential 'new customer.'

It's sad and very disturbing, but it is our reality now. Even though there may not be a monetary fee, these sites aren't 'free' to use - our data is way more valuable to them than a monthly subscription.

Google sent me a notification yesterday that they added my phone number
to my profile to increase my "security features" or some shit like that in case
I need to recup my account, get notifications or reset my password.
My profile was created years ago and I have always refused to put my number in it.
WTF?
I quickly removed the phone number from my profile but what the heck,
seems like they already have it!

That's a huge portion of the internet unfortunately. Nearly everything is linked to Pinterest these days.

If I'm researching different hues of Gold-top powders, for example. I just avoid the Pinterest offerings.

They want me to join them to look at their crap. I don't care. I'll go elsewhere, and I'll use different search engines.

The theory of my Pinterest app getting this information from the Roku search seems most plausible to me, I am just not sure I understand how that could have happened. I have the "Use partner info" setting disabled in the Pinterest app, I also have the "Use sites you visit" setting disabled as well. I didn't use the voice search on the Roku, I manually typed to search for the movie. My kids don't use my phone at all, so they wouldn't have used it to search for the movie.

Those settings are smoke screen....just to make you feel safer.........
