Yup. If I were a Gibson dealer, I'd immediately jack up the prices of 2014 Historics. I mean immediately.

"Neck Wood: 1-Piece Mahogany Neck with Non-Historic Expanded Neck Tenon"

Do you think someone received a pat on the back for that description?

Of course........it's politically correct isn't it?:laugh2:
Why say 'short' when you can use an expanded more misleading description:naughty:

There's a li'l sumthin' out there for everyone from corksniffer through wanna-be-corksniffer, at all price points, enabling the widest possible audience.

It should become really interesting to see which products sell in what volume. We probably won't know until the end of the year, though.

Do you guys think Henry is trying to drive lower end custom shop buyers back to Gibson USA with the audacity of these things? Or does he think he can successfully shift the custom shop paradigm/expectations over time and make these viable?

Seems more like first thing is more likely. I can't see how anybody in his or her right mind would buy one at 6k, or 5k, or 4k.

+1, totally agree Steve.............time will tell, of that we are sure. :)

+ 1, Fenn + the HM '57 GT that libtech posted. Outstanding GT HM IMHO. :thumb:

Having said that I just saw Mike Slub's Cherry Sunburst & it looks cool. Not as cool as his Burst but nice nonetheless. I have to admit I really like the traditional Cherry Sunburst a lot. :)

For the price however, I can think of other things that I believe are better & / or offer better value...............& it ain't that stupid short fat tenon model, that is for sure. Two piece laminated boards all over again but I suppose they have to give the punters a reason to shell out.

Cheers, Rudi

Are dealers forced to stock CS 50s? Can't their CS minimum quota be TH or 2014-spec historics?

Whoever buys a CS 50s at that pricing needs to get his head examined.

I already feel very sorry for the dealers :(

Always try and get your customer to spend MORE then they thought they were going too . No matter how much BS you need to tell them .

 Not with TH's . Not that many will be made , as far as Gibson has posted for world wide production . But I doubt Gibson wouldn't try and up the production #'s made if they could ,and could sell them .

I would imagine 2014 spec'd guitars made in 2015 would count for this years quota of guitars purchased ,being they were bought by the dealer in 2015 :hmm::lol:
Don't feel sorry for the dealers , right now they are selling a lot of guitars and making $$$$ .

agreed. the pics he (and Gibson) posted of the TH all look great. But the truth lies in the Greg Koch video from the other thread. It sounds just like any other Les Paul.

We like to say how Gibson is becoming a joke but the only who is laughing is Henry. All the way to the bank. Because all of the THs are selling out quick.

Sorry for quoting myself, but just read this on the CC24 / Nicky advert:

"True Historic Plastics: Molecular level analysis delivers authentic vintage design"

It's got to be the same person penning this tripe, surely?

I guess that some "artists" don't need to even sign their name on a piece of work :)

I think it's the opposite. I think he is trying to shift people from Gibson USA to the higher price Custom Shop. The way I see it, the CS "50s Style" guitars are the new and improved Traditional Standard.

Well that's 'so far so good' as I see it.....now let's see how the '50s Style LPs move off the dealers shelves???
Does anyone know the production numbers of those?

I think it's to early to know how sales of the "True" Historics will go. We all knew the first batch would sell quickly to the "have to have one" crowd.
