Is it possible to get a Studio Silverburst in left-handed?

Thanks! It seems that the differences are the pick-ups, frett-board is maple, and the lack of coil-tap, is that right? Makes it an attractive possibility, although I would need to switch out the pups to the the slightly more modern sound.

But, you can't switch those pickups out easily. Because the mini humbuckers on the 70's Tribute is smaller than regular humbuckers. You will need to route out the pickup cavity to make a switch.

I was looking at those a while back, because I like silverburst. Not sure if I like the different sized pickups though. As was pointed out, that would be problematic for swapping. At least it makes it an option for us lefties. Good luck either way.

Hmmm, that may be problematic. Maybe I should make peace with just getting an ebony 2012 Studio. Any other options?

Even though Gibson has stepped up the ante in offering more lefthanded options, there are certainly times when we have to compromise. I've always wanted a darker blue LP, but naturally....no lefty option. I ended up getting a Pelham Blue Studio a while back and am more than happy with it.

You never know. You might get the Ebony and be real glad that you did. Or....maybe a year from now, silverburst will become a lefty option on a studio. At that time, you could always trade for one, or find out that the silverburst ship has sailed and it no longer interests you.

Then again, see if you could find a lefty Tribute to try (yeah, good luck on that), because you might like the stock pickups. If not, take a righthanded friend along who could play a righty tribute through some familiar amps to get a feel for the tone of the pickups.

Good luck

I've never seen a left handed Studio Silverburst. You can always get the ebony and refinish the top to silverburst if you really want one.

Thanks guys. I've played a Studio 2012 and it has the sound I've been looking for, so I'll keep that as the top priority. I love the look of the ebony, adore the silverburst, but in the end it sounds like going for Ebony is the best choice.

@wheelsdeal: I assume that I'd need a proper luthier to perform a refinish? Not an easy or cheap job I imagine.

Not easy and cheap. Neither is the refinish. Just think about both options. Is the Ebony good enough for you? Are the mini hums good enough for you?

I'd go for the sound and get the black. Anyways, I don't like the Silverburst finish, so I'm just partial with the Ebony.

What about a silverpearl 2012 Studio or a silverburst LP 70s Tribute then Victor? If you really want one you must be able to order one surely.

If Gibson do the 70s Tributes in silverburst then, fthey must be available, whereabouts are you btw?

Good luck with this, another victory for us lefties .... woop woop .....

It depends on how you see it and of course luthier pricing in your country. Here for a full refinish it costs 350e and just the top like 200e.There are sets of pickups or pedals out there for more.Anyway i am not saying you should do it,i am saying you will always have that option.Maybe in some years that your guitar is beat up or you got bored of the ebony. Its better than buying a mini humbucker guitar and eventually decide to route for fitting regular pickups.

Hmmm, the silverpearl doesn't really grab me quite like the Ebony and silverburst.

So Ebony it is, and I will consider doing a teardrop silverburst refinish in a few years if it gets beat up... or get a Custom Shop silverburst

well yes I guess, up to you victor, you could always have the silver studio refinished by a luthier with a burst, just a thought ....
