My LP has always felt kinda tight even when I raise the tailpiece. Recently I took it to a luthier for a fret leveling, and now I find that it's a little harder to fret and bend the strings. I'm thinking about going down a gauge, from .010's to .009's, would this be a good idea?

maybe you should try .009 .046 hybrid, GBE are easy to bend and EAD are still relatively beefy, thats what i use anyway

Yup, that would be fine. Give it a shot. You MIGHT need to readjust the truss rod and action to get it playing correctly. So yes .09's will be fine for your Les Paul..

Only you can decide what you prefer. Billy Gibbons has used 8's after all (if I remember correctly)! I've gone up in stages on both my Strats, which are currently on 11's. Going to set one for 12's in the near future.

Never mind opinon, only you can decide. Try it and see. You can always go back if you're not happy.

.009's are fine on a LP if that's what you want to use.

Well, considering Billy Gibbons uses 7's on Pearly Gates...

Didn't LPs come from the factory with .009s for a while? Like, back in the '90s or something?

Jimmy Page uses .08s and Billy Gibbons uses .07s. What does that tell you?
