Guys

As above - if I was looking for a Jimmy Page #1 - would one of the "Jimmy Page Custom Authentic's" made in 2006 (with a JPP serial number) be the same thing?

I know there was a signed/aged run of 25 - but I am happy with the VOS equivalent. So is the "Custom Authentic" in fact the Jimmy Page "Number 1" that everyone talks about?...or was there another re-issue?

Thanks!!

yes the custom authentic jpp is the one your after it was based on jimmys number #1 they did aged as well without it being signed but they are getting serious money these days. should get a custom authentic one for $5000 to $7000 dependant on condition.

depends on your perspective regarding "serious money." The aged #1s are as cheap as I've seem them for a few years now. Yes, they're a lot more than a VOS but they are well down in price on what I saw them going for just a couple of years ago (two years ago one sold through GC platinum room for 25,000. I know one that sold just a few weeks ago for under 14,000). The VOS models also are down in price, but by a much smaller amount.

+1

Anyways, JPPs are nice guitars IMHO. Neck is very comfortable for ppl that have small hands like mine, it feels totally different from other reissues.

I'm a fan of 59 profile but i like JPP thickness and profile more than 60s reissues.

Ive seen a well cared but played one for 5800USD and a Mint one for 7000usd in te last month.

Gret burst, too. But IMHO the price difference is not reasonable comparing them to other Rs.

chill mate. I never said it wasn't serious money (never said it was either). I was only pointing out that prices have dropped considerably in recent times. And so if someone thought they were too expensive back then, they may not think so now.

What strings were fitted to JPP1's from new? Was it 8's??

Also did they have strap lock's fitted as standard?

I believe the gibson web site stated that the JPPs came with 10s (vintage), although some people will dispute & say they were 9s (Page's has 9s). the only place i know of that has Gibson's specs for the JPP is on the jimmypageonline.com site at the very bottom of the news page.

yes the strap locks are from the factory as standard parts.

yeah I asked this question about a year ago here and got 3 different answers - each described as absolute!!! i.e. 10-46, 9-42 and 9-46.

The gibson website at the time the guitar was released said vintage reissue 10-46. (internet wayback machine)

Unless there's a Zep revival, It's hard to se these going anywhere but slowly down, given the avalanche of reissues and aged LPs that flood the market. Except as a possible (gamble) collectors' object, there are too many terrific alternatives for this model to do anything but level off and maybe decline. If you're totally into Page, that's the value -- that, or investment.
