iPad - Legal Movie Rental Downloads?

I am going on a trip tomorrow so i wanted to download some itunes rental movies to watch on the plane. A friend told me that there are legal services online that allow you to purchase a membership and download as many movies as you want and place them in your iPad.

Sounds great but I do not want to do anything illegal.

The question is, are these sites legit?

Anybody has any experience?

You can do it straight from itunes. Just search the movie you want.

Oh, i know that, but paying a one time fixed fee and being able to download as many movies as i want sounds interesting, but a little fishy...

That's because no such service exists. You either buy the movie, or you rent it. Those are the only two legit business models currently in existence.

That or you could just torrent them like a normal person. But that's not exactly "legal"
