Interesting Gold Top Prototype on Ebay. Real or fake?

Why is the front of the headstock all cracked and aged, but the back is brand new??

Isn't this the same one posted by someone else? The back of the head stock clearly looks like the serial number was sanded off and then refinished after putting the prototype stamp on it. It should be reported for the POS that it is.

Prob is that it was already sold

Its a brand new guitar thats being passed off as an original 1952 LP,
From the Gibson link in my other post.

If it looked exactly like the bridge in the picture, it wasn't from the 50s.

Original 52 bridges:

-wrapped strings under the bar. No palm mutes there.
-did not have a machined hinge. They were bent.
-did not have that half oval looking cutout.
- was two pieces. The hinge/plate the screwed to the bottom, and the long trapeze that hooked into the hinge/plate thing.
-the hinge plate looked like a 3 leaf clover. The new ones are squared.

This is the bridge Les Paul wanted on the guitar, but Gibson didn't use them, so they sat in the warehouse. That is why it is called 'Prototype' Because this is the design Les Paul approved.
