I have an Epiphone Les Paul Junior and would like to ditch the HB and install a P-90 dogear. Can it be done .

It would be easiest to just get a humbucker-sized P90 like a GFS Mean90 or Dream90 or a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat.

+1

We've heard a lot of good things about GFS's Mean and Dream 90s around here. And they can be had for $60 a set.

The problem with fitting real soapbars is that they are longer and narrower than humbuckers... so you'd have to make the pickup routes longer and you'd have gaps running perpendicular to the neck.

EDIT: Oh, I guess you might not need to route it wider for a dogear, but you'd still have gaps at the top and/or bottom.

I've never seen an Epi Junior with a humbucker. When did they make those?

What DJ said.

That's how they make them now, Riv. Stupid, I know.

So this is the only Junior Epi makes now, the Special?

Does it have a bolt-on or set neck? I'm not a snob about that, just wondering and MF doesn't say. Looks like a great guitar for the money - I paid about twice that for my '57 RI. First thing I'd try is a Phat Cat, but that's just me. I've never played one.

Yeah it seems good for the price, until you see how many options you have at that price point from Rondo... :D

If you're jonesing for p90s, for example, there's this gem:

I love mine, in fact that's the guitar I was using to lay down that lead last night. :thumb:

Or there's some snazzy Tele's for even cheaper that come with a p90 in the neck.... :hmm:

A friend of mine put GFS P-90s in a Tele clone and really likes them.

I've got a GFS buck sized p90 in big red.. and I like it.
a bit warmer than the Kent armstrong in the neck..
so it makes a very nice combination.
I dig p90s so.. I'm a bit biased.
