Thanks FUS44, but i never got pictures of the one I was offered, the guy said later he'd send them. I think I scared him off asking too much for the trade though.

Colchar, did you find out what location had the guitar??

If you want a look at some of the Fadeds owned by people here, a forum member (joedonner2001) has started a website. Here is a link to its gallery page:

You can load more photos after you scroll through the first batch.

I can't remember.

There was a page that linked to each location's list for the blowout sale. You would have to go through each location's list to find it.

Here is the link:

ETA: I just checked and there was a used one available at the Pickering store for $1299. It was a Honey Burst version (there were honey and tobacco burst versions in 2011). Whether it is still available after the sale is anyone's guess.

I don't think there were any Fadeds in 2012. Even if there were, a laminated fretboard is no big deal.

That being said, according to the serial number the one in Pickering is from 2011 (early February of 2011, if I remember correctly).

Yeah it was an early February 2011 model, checked it on the dater project. I'm gonna call the store tomorrow and see if they have it. If they do, I'll put my guitar back to the way it was and see if the L&M will take it back and I'll drive to Pickering to get it tomorrow before the storm hits.

That dater project website is beyond useless.

For that era, the first and fifth number is the year. The second, third, and fourth numbers indicate the day. Keep in mind that the date only indicates the date it was stamped, not the date the guitar was finished. I had two Fadeds, the first of which was stamped December 2nd 2010 but the pickups in it were dated February 28th 2011 so there is no way that guitar was completed before March of 2011 despite the December 2nd 2010 date in its serial number.

I just emailed them about it myself.

Why would you drive from Ottawa to Pickering? Your local store will transfer it in for you.

And if L&M won't take yours back just sell it privately and use the cash to buy a Faded. If this one is gone, another will appear in a few weeks (if there aren't already more somewhere in the L&M chain). Or, as I said above, just keep yours and use the three year financing during Gibson Month to make the Faded more affordable so soon after buying the one you have now.

Yeah I know, the dater project sucks, I've had people think their chibson is real because that website says the number is, but all the site does it decode any random number you type in. I forget this every time I use it lol.

They will ship used items to their store for me but being used, I'd have to cover the shipping costs. Their website says the shipping allowance doesn't cover items from the local store deal centre or something like that. So it'll most likely be cheaper and faster to just go get it myself.

L&M should take mine back because since its financed, I just gotta pay the stupid restocking fee, which for me will be 15% of the selling price plus taxes, which I think means I just won't get the taxes back I paid.

BrainMan, your Trad looks nice. I would have done an even swap for that back when I was wanting to sell/trade my faded. At the time I was wanting a burst more like what you have for a "look" for a little side project but that fell through. You know how it is. :)

No it isn't, especially with 10-15cm of snow expected in the GTA today (and it is already coming down).

L&M only recently brought in shipping charges for used items but those are minimal and are not always applied (I recently had an amp shipped from Oshawa to the western suburbs of Toronto and there were no shipping charges). If they do apply shipping charges those will be far less than what you will pay for gas to get from Ottawa to Pickering and back. Trust me on this, I have used stuff shipped to my local L&M all the time and the shipping charges are so minimal as to be inconsequential.

Call, or visit, your local store and ask them to check L&M's national inventory. It will take them less than two minutes to do so.

I got my days screwed up cause of the family day long weekend. I thought today was Monday and the storm was coming tomorrow haha. Must've been the lack of sleep from my arm killing me all night.

Ill do what you said colchar and just call l&m every once and a while until I find one. I came so close, missed by probably only 2 days. Oh well can't win them all.

there is nothing special about a faded. its only desirable because they're scarce. Don't give me any crap about breathing wood either. They cost less to produce because they just slap some color and sealer on it. avoid them and get a real LP with a lacquer finish.

That guitar might have been on hold for the sale. If so, they wouldn't have sold it until the sale began. That would have necessitated a trip to Pickering, hopefully in time to beat any locals who might have been there for that giutar.

They come available with some regularity so the wait shouldn't be long. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there was one available somewhere in the chain right now or within the next couple of weeks.

Joesatch, this is not nearly worthy of your usual, stellar trolling.

I have come to expect more from you. Come on, man.

How many have you played?

its only desirable because they're scarce.

No, they are desirable because they sound so good.

Don't give me any crap about breathing wood either.

I don't remember anyone doing so. And how about you don't give us any crap with your ignorant, uniformed comments?

Well that comment, and indeed Joe's entire post, really was a special kind of stupid.
